I just got an email from a guy I know from way back, he owns a good sized plumbing and heating
company (also has many rental properties) and he has asked me to put together quotes various electrical works.
Mostly heating related.
I've not long gone out on my own so I'm trying to get a handle...
I've got a job for next sat and the client has said he has 6 floorboxes in his office and 3 don't work.they are on 2 circuits and when he resets the mcb the other mcb trips! I was thinking crossed legs between the 2 circuits but it must have been ok when installed. Any thoughts?
Hi,
A customer called to say she has experienced small shocks from three different light switches in her house.
The hall, the lounge and the kitchen.
This has happened on three occasions over the last couple of days.
I said, I assume they are metal faceplates...
Nope, 100% plastic...
Ok...
Ultima Electrical, been looking for something different instead of the usual name or initials, Ultima is the best or the ultimate in latin, also there isn't another electrical company in the uk with this name and i was able to purchase the domain names, what do you think ?

The installation on the attached pic is a property with a 3-phase supply and a range of fuse boards. I am currently in training but this is a family friend and I have discussed carrying out a rewire for them once I get my papers. I intend notifying the works to BC and then getting NAPIT in to...
Had a call out from an estate agents I do work for, seen this and recommended to the agent it was addressed, and possibly an Eicr carried out as who knows what the rest of the property could be like! I don't know what its feeding as was late at night and only there to address a faulty cooker hood!
Hi guys, what's your thoughts? Ripped off or fair price?
Had an inspection report carried out on my electrics as solicitor requested them upon sale of my house and bill has just landed on my door mat for £205.
On the bill it's noted 3 additions as below:
1) fit gromet to metal box (1 x...
Hi all
I am a novice DIYer and a guitarist, so I have in the past tried to make my own audio leads, etc. About six months ago, I had an electrician doing work in the house and he whipped out some of these:

Evening all,
I've been to quote for 2 jobs today, and both properties have had metal cut-outs one of which I believe may have a fused neutral (I've not opened it for obvious reasons) I didn't complete any testing, so for now I'm assuming they have good Ze's
What are your thoughts?
Should I...
Hi all,
Today I was given a yellow 240v extension reel to use.
Now if I'm not mistaken yellow flex indicates 110v.
So how does this comply?
If I was to use this on a construction site everybody would assume it is 110v whereas in reality it's not it's 240v!
Thoughts please :)
Hi Guys,
Called out yesterday morning client has 2 x Wylex Boards with MCB's each has a 63Amp, 100Ma RCCB as the main switch on a TT System.
Board 'A' is the main 24hr feed for the house, Sockets., Lights etc 8 circuits
Board 'B' is the economy 7 night storage heaters. feeding 7 circuits...
How can this be justified as far as I am concerned it would be a C3 at the most or no code as the MCB can be deemed for isolation (it's fed from the local lighting circuit). Surely C2 potentially dangerous - urgent remedial action required is a bit over the top, thoughts please !!!!!!
In the flat i live in i have an extractor fan in the kitchen that is fed by a 1.0mm2 3core FT&E. The supply comes a fused connection unit off the RFC. The extractor has L SL N CPC. The switched live is terminated on the

Hi,
I know it is very common but would like peoples opinions on this please.
The property needs a new CU, its in the bathroom and the cupboard where it sits in needs removing first, to replace it is not a problem, but its in a bathroom, which ok it happens, but would you do it, sign it off and...
on a TT system today I had meter tails backed up by domestic 100A 88-3 fuse directly into fusebord, no main switch or RCD on tails which is very common in N.I, am I right to consider this as a distribution circuit?
my thoughts are that the fuse doesn't provide proper disconnection time and would...
Got called out to a hairdressers yesterday after they were receiving shocks from a hair straiteners
