HI all,
getting some info though that there is problems with Transformer less Inverters and RCD's not tripping.
thought id check one of mine and low and behold it didnt trip.
It is the first time ive tested it with the PV on though so i would never normally pick it up. Looks like the the...
I have recently qualified and am coming towards testing a re-wire. I have fitted 30 low voltage downlighters with transformers. Apart from removing the bulbs do I need to do anything else before pumping 500volts through the circuits. ie will 500volts damage the transformers or are they removed...
Hello everyone, so i'm trying to build a 12V to 240V power inverter with a 2 Transistors a tenter tapped step up Transformer and a Microcontroller (arduino) that makes a Modefied Sine wave right now for testing but i want to try to make a pure sine wave or as pure sine wave as possible :)...
Had a few drinks last night with a mate from DNO high upin the ranks, let slip that DNO don’t want PV installed that’s why they takethe full 65 days for applications. Too much work for them altering network and processing paper work
Hi Guys, New to the Forum long time lurker first time poster, so please go easy on a newbie.
I am installing a Centralite system and the client would like some Low Voltage Lights run off the controller.
Centalite have said that I should only use Magnetic Low Voltage Transformers, but I am having...
now i think i should know this but i don't know wether logic will apply
a 230 to 110V transformer
the 110V machines will take about 30A which is about 3.6kva
now the cable will run about 20m and i was going to run in 10mm 3core swa to a 40A switch then i was going to run a 4mm tw/e ring now...
I've got a very well made 24 volt, 50 hertz, 81 watt pump, however I do NOT have a transformer/converter. I'm from down-under, so we run on between 220 to 250 volts. Is there a nifty trick one can do to get this thing running on 240 volts? Can I put a different transformer in-line with a...
hello all, does anybody know what sort of power factor 110v transformers deal with. would it be a standard 0.85? i want to know what kw output i'd get out of a 3.3kva tranny before i buy it. ta
OK I’m going to put this in the sticky section. But I’ve put it here first as there’s a bit of a tale behind it.
We had 2 1000KVA 11/.43KV transformers feeding a GEC System4 board. As load increased a third transformer became necessary. Things then as now were tight, so our senior engineer came...
lads,
While i was working at a customers house the other day he asked me to look at 3 of his kitchen spots (12volt) that were not working. Anyway a VERY long story short i found the transformers.........in the ATTIC. A big bank of 60va trannys that do the bathroom as well. Now that means...
Please can anyone explain the theory behind transformers and 12 volt halogen bulbs.
My dimmer transformer is about ten years old and is made by IBL lighting.
It is a 4105.00, this is presumably their number.
20-75VA 24 230AC 50/60HZ 75VA max
Six 12volt halogen bulbs run off it...
Hi,
I have replaced this twice and they have both blown within a few minutes of fitting. There are 3 lights on the circuit each with their own transformer and a dimmer switch. This installation has been up for 10 years with no problems till now, the other 2 lights are fine. 2 transformers...
hi i am at ajob and the customer has already fitted the under cupboar lights all of which are different which is somewhat annoying. i have brought the transformers for them and the are the correct rating. i just dont have a clue how to fit them. this is the first time i have ever had to fit...
Hi,
While doing an IR testing on the lighting circuits, these spot lights & transformers are a pain in the back side. The transformers are usually in the most inaccessible places and if you test them with 500v they get blown up or give undesirable results.
Is testing IR only between earth and...
Hello folks,
Could anyone please explain the following circumstances to me??
A customer had their lighting breaker trip when they turned on a light. They put the breaker back on and the lights didn't work at all.
Yours truly went round to investigate and found that there was a charge coming...

For more info drop me a line or call 07917 127 414.

I have just replaced some dimmable transformers.
But they keep tripping the circuit, the transformers a new and I installed first without a dimmer switch.
If I disconnect them the circuit stays closed, is there a way to test the transformers?
Hi this is my first post on here> Can anyone help me with testing 12v transformers? I've tested low voltage bathroom fan transformers ok, but not low voltage light transformers. I'm using a Megger, and some of the transformers say 'dont test with a megger' on them? I guess i'm missing a trick...
