Hi
Anyone got any advice which transformers I might use for Lutron Dimmers, my wholesaler isnt to sure if his bog standard 230/12V will suffice?
Cheers
Hi,
got a 3 phase transformer on a construction site (office refurb) fed by 6mm swa, form an old 3 phase d/b.
Should the swa to the transformer be rcd protected or not, the regs are not really clear on this?
The cable is tied up and taped with caution markings.
Thanks
Craig
Hello again guys
Quick question. using 20w/12v lights bvut they keep blowing my transformers. The spec of the trans are 10w-60w input 240v output 11.4v.
My firm seem to think they havent had trouble with them (trans) before. Would it be that theyre output is only 11.4 and the bulbs are...
My neighbour had me look at there kitchen lights today as they wasnt working and I couldnt believe what I found. transformers had burnt out but where the cables from the transformer to the light fitting conntect in the top of the downlight the connector block had totally melted and burnt out the...
hi all. 1st post so go easy.
i am currently doing the 2391-2 design course and have the Carters Automotive Electronics project. Part of the assignment asks for details on the bench sockets using electrical separation. I cant seem to find any info on here about how tranny would be fed from d/b...
I have been installing ct's for current monitoring, I have been asked to put up outside air temperature sensors which relay back to the monitoring board, whilst I'm quite capable to do this I don't understand what they would be used for? Anyone enlighten me?

Was wondering what the OV in a transformer stands for?
OV EARTH
EARTH OV
415V 110V
This was how the transformer looked inside. I just assumed the OV was for the neutral but was told it wasn't?
Any help appreciated, thanks!
My apprentice asked me about this when a voltage drops the current increases so why can you use 110v on building sites so i though id share the answer for any one else who wants to know , the reason is the transformer , we know that a safe voltage is less than 50 volts so what the transformer...
If you have a lighting transformer with primary and secondary leads for MR16 downlights, can you use WAGO push connectors to link the primary side to the mains lighting circuit? What are the recommendations for connecting lighting transformers to the mains if the are supplied with pre-terminated...
As the 17th Ed Regs state that all junctions need to be located in an accessible place, what is the deal with low voltage transformers for downlights? Many come with screw type connections so is the recess/hole for the downlight classed as accessible? If so, couldn't you just put a small...
I've been asked by a customer to look at a lutron rania dimmer. The problem is when switched on the lights flash light a strobe light all over the room. Spoke to lutron they believe that it overcurrent so I split the room lighting and still have same problem. Anyone come across this before...
hi could anybody help me please and point me in the right direction i need to find information about transmission transformers and distribution transformers and compair there construction hope some one can help need to hand in for monday thanks
Hi All
Could anyone confirm the following:
A 3 phase transformer has delta wound primaries and star wound secondries. The turns ratio is 1:1. If 415v is applied to the primary, will the secondary voltage be 240v?
I think it will because the secondary output voltage will be: primary line...
Evening,
Just wanted peoples thoughts on the quantity of ELV transformers on one 6A lighting circuit, is there a recommended maximum ??
Logically if a 10-60Va transformer has a primary current of 0.27A then you will reach a limit but is there a stipulated limit:confused:
Cheers
? trying to work out max load on 800watt dimmer with 50watt low voltage down lights have to calculate the load by the amount of 60va transformers instead of the lamp watts not sure how to convert the amount of 60va transformers into max watts for the dimmer
Hi guys. I will be fitting three low voltage lights tomorrow. the bulbs are 20 watt, so do I fit a 60 watt transformer or is it better to fit a 80 or 105 watt transformer in case the end user desides to fit high wattage bulbs.
I have two 415V busbars separated by a bus section which is normally open. Busbar 1 and busbar 2 are normally fed separately by transformer 1 and transformer 2 respectively. Both transformer's HV side are from the same 11kV board. Both transformers are of the same manufacturer, model, ratio, tap...
We are installing a 300 kVA transformer, 3 wire 3 ph 520 V/345 A in with 4 wire 3ph 440 V/394 A out.
Does anyone know if there any significant tests required or things to be aware of (pitfalls) when testing this type of equipment?
We propose to undertake an Insulation Resistance test of the...
Morning guys,
Does any body know where I can sounrce DSI controlled Dimmable Low Voltage Transformers ? I need to control some display lighting along with the modular fittings and be able to dim them all for when a presentation is being done in the room. The controls for everything bar the 50w...
