Hi guys, just wondering if any of you are fitting amendment 3 boards, currently doing an extension for my parents and the board is to be replaced as not enough capacity. Unsure wether to fit metal or plastic.
I have a very old Wylex fuse board which is need to bring up to current standard Amendment 3.
I believe my property is supplied using a TN-S
I'm looking for a new consumer unit that is 11 or 12 way but not sure which brands are best as I plan on going for all rcbo.
So far I've seen...
Hi All
Just wondered, After 1st of January 2016 when the new metal consumer units come into affect are we still able to connect in to the old 17th edition consumer units that might only be a matter of months old.
how do they expect us to do work in a property and connect into a consumer unit...
Now the amendment 3 has a requirement for none combustible consumer units (if I am reading it right), what do you guys think? Was it a smart move? It seems like a trade off between an energized frame for fire resilience.

Hi all,
After some guidance with a Sonos setup. Looked for a few decent multi room media setups for our home and the Sonos products look right up my street. My question really is how have people run the supplies to the units. I want to give the impression that the units are completely wireless...
quoting for some electrical work and need to install a new circuit, and there is one way free on a Hager cartridge fuse consumer unit.
Not sure of the model but it is a unit, where the cartridge fuse is accessed by pulling out and down the front cover of each circuit breaker, and the fuse is...
relating to the amendment 3 and the ridiculous non-combustible CU reg., as a part of my after care service, i always book a free to client call-back on any CU changes after 2/3 years to ensure that there are no problems, checking tightness of terminations etc. this is one i installed in 2012...
Hi,
This morning in my local wholesalers they had a selection of the latest Hager metal consumer units that comply with amendment 3. I have to say I was quite impressed with the look of them, especially the Design 30.
Why do many sparkies fit integrated LED downlights such as the JCC FGLED range?
I wouldn't fit combined units at all, at least not in a domestic situation. You're saddling the client with an expensive reinstallation bill if in the future he wants, for example, warm white instead of cool white...
Afternoon All.
Has anuone installed Cudis CPN consumer units recently and if so are they any good.
Normally install square D or Wylex but wholesaler has started pushing these recently and noticed them being plugged at the NICEIC tech talks by one of the exhibitors.
Whats the reliability and...

The owner wants to split the unit in to 3 different units, but without having new supplies added.

I recently changed my consumer unit at home. Since my old wylex rewireable had all cables entering through the top I came through the top of the new unit via knockouts. I then proceeded to fanny around making the top IP4X. I used trunking, but reading up I notice others have various ingenious...
