I'm scratching my on this because I've never done it before. I'm on a new build school wire with quite a few computer RFC's using 2.5 T&E + a 4mm single Earth that we are just pulling in now. When it comes to us testing these circuits, how do I/we record the results?
Both the 1.5mm CPC and the...
Hi all
In order to measure your pefc pscc, you need to test across all 3 line conductors then multiply by 2 record the highest value, this is correct isnt it.
Posted this in the heating section earlier but didn't get a response. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Hello,
I recently attended a job where the underfloor heating programmer/ thermostat was broken. When chatting to the wholesaler to find a replacement he warned me that I would have to get...
i know some, probably tel will make a joke about this, ..i can see it coming so i'l get in first :this isnt about bad value day outs:) sorry tel :)
So ive read many posts on this subject and opinion seems divided.
On testing a MEM 100he mains switch rcd with all breakers off, link from the main...
Hi Guys,
I've just swapped over to a Fluke 1654B MFT and I have a question about measuring the Re using the loop test function.
Anyway, on the full caffeine loop test there is a little button where you can toggle the lower display to swap between PEFC measurement and the Re element of the Ze...
Hi,
I am a businessperson educating myself about Industrial sectors. I am working on an Internet based information providing project which has placed Electrical industry at its cornerstone, and subsequently, adding other industries to the equation that create a value chain to Electrical...
Evening all.
Iv come across a problem. I'm going to change a d.b. The earthing arrangement is TT system with a 10mm cpc. Water and gas bond is 10mm also.
My Ze when the main earth Is disconnected is 59.1ohms which as we know is fine.
When taking zs at socket outlets I'm getting a value if...
Can somebody help me please?
I'm just finishing a rewire, and I've installed a GF radial cicuit in a large domestic property and am in the process of testing it. It's a new radial circuit, 2.5 T&E, 13 sockets, 20A type B breaker on an RCD protected board. My R1&R2 = 1.40 and Ze = 0.20, so my...
Hi all,
been trying to work this out now and carnt get my head round some of the calculations.
please see where im going wrong.
voltage drop:
so 63amp mcb supplying electric boiler, run is approx 25 meters in 16mm twin & earth.
so Mv/a/m x length x amps divided by 1000= 2.8x25x63 divided by...
Apologies if this question sounds a bit basic but am a little confused at the mo and quite new to the game. Here goes -
I am trying to complete a NICEIC Highway Installation Certificate for a system where there is a 230 v TT supply coming into a roadside pillar into the main BS88 fused head...
Hi all
This has got me thinking. I am designing a circuit using 3 core 2.5mm SWA and using table 11 in the OSG on page 182.
With an R1 of 2.5mm and the same for R2 I know what the milli ohms per metre is. That's all well and good but I also know from experience that when uisng the armour as an...
Hi there,
I am new on here,Great place !
Can someone explain to me how to do an earth continuity test and earth loop test on an electric cooker where the cooker point is already installed.
Our college tutor has asked us to find out the info for next weeks lesson ,where we will be asked...
Hi
i keep getting confused when trying to work out voltage drop please can some one point me in the right direction.
63amp boiler supply 25 meter run in plastic trunking fixed to wall. Will 16mm twin and earth be sufficent and can someone show the calculation cheers
Playing with my new Megger MFT1553.
Done a test of PFC on my home installation.
Firstly I connected the to the neutral bar and the incoming line conductor at the switch and got a value <1A.
Think I must have connected it wrong and got parallel paths??
Hope I have not blown any appliances in the...
Anyone know what the V/M reading on a PowerOne 10.0 inverter refers to? We have one causing a few problems and it says V/M G82. Initial thoughts is that it is not set to G83.
Hi,
I'm in my second year at college, but I'm a bit unclear on what the max Ze should be for a TT system. I know that the regs say 200ohms, and my tutor said that it would be acceptable if you found an earth rod which gave a reading of 200ohms. However several of my mates who have been qualified...
got a keen apprentice who never stops asking questions which is good but not on a monday morning when you dont feel to clever anyway he was asking me how low would your ir reading have to be to trip breaker i explained that min value was 1M ohm but he wanted to now how low the reading would be...
When testing Zs for circuits which also have RCD protection, what figure do you record onto your test sheets? when you exceed the max value for a specific MCB, due to the rcd. Do you just use a calculated value or do you actually record the value that you get even though it exceeds the max...
So Im hear doing some homework and I cannot figure how to find the value of resistance r in both of these diagrams. Can someone show me the formula pls. You can click to enlarge them.
Thanks.
