    Determine the new current value

Hi all. Freshman electrical installations student here. Please can someone help me with figuring out the formula to the following question, it's driving me nuts. The current through the field windings of a motor is 1.8 amperes when the resistance is 100 ohms. After 5 minutes the resistance...

    TT testing.

If testing a TT installation which tester would you prefer? The Earth resistance tester or an earth fault loop impedance tester. I mean if you were to test with an earth resistance tester (the inserting spikes in the ground test) and get a value for Ra, would this value be the same value that...

    cpc for shower?

Need someone to put me at ease. Working out minimum csa of cpc for a shower using adiabatic equation. I'm using 10mm T&E with 6mm cpc, 17 meter run, no factors to take in to place. I keep coming up with 6mm cpc not big enough or is it just me. TN-S system. All help welcome.

    What panels are best value

Given the lower feed in tariff I assume most are reverting to cheaper panels. How do we know which panels are best? Is there a list anywhere that rates PV panels. I have seen comments on this forum that says some panels are good and others are crap but it all seems to be a matter of opinion.

    PFC Testing

Hi all. Just a question which seems to get me a bit confused about PFC testing. I understand that the value of PFC you put on a EIC or any other form is the highest value of either the PSCC or the PEFC. Now when you get the reading on your meter (which is sometimes displayed with the Zs value)...

    Isc value too low

(Please be gentle, its only my second install) I've just installed 10 RECs with an SB2500HF and i'm trying to commission for handover. I've measured the voltage of each panel, which was correct, and my Voc today was about 300V. However, I'm only measuring Isc of 0.4A. The install is a top row...

Peak Short Circuit Current value on the SSEG form.

I've looked at the easy MCS guide on here, and it's not clear, (in my eye's) to what value you place in the part where it asks for this. I've done a pscc test at the AC isolator with my fluke, and it's giving me a reading of 600A. Is this what they want? There's no mention of it on the SMA...

    High value Ze

I have an installation (TN-S system) and the Ze measure is 3,89Ohms.The start point of the installation protected by ELCB 500mA.Some final circuits protected by rcbo 30mA and the rest by mcb.I suggested to the client the replacement of the feed cable but for economic reasons this will be late...

    Megger Mft 1730 calculating R1&R2?

A student of mine had his new toy delivered today (delivery first thing, thank you very much Tester Meter). We've had a play with it and I am surprised to see that it has a method of caculating R1&R2 as what appears to be normal practice. You turn the dial to Zref, make a loop impedance...

    RCBO operating times

Testing a job yesterday and realised a couple of things, during the RCBO 1n and 5n tests in a lot of cases the 5n value was actually slightly higher than the 1n value,eg 1n=28.2ms 5n=28.7ms (?). Doesnt seem right that multiplying the test current x5 would have a slower tripping time (although...
