After some advice please, I`m gas safe registered and have to do safe isolation to TB118. It`s a new build site and the fast blow fuses were blowing on the boiler; the spark said it was a problem with the boiler. Put a temp on the boiler and it works. On doing a dead test on earth to live on the...
I will start by apologising to @westward10 as he will have had to take time out to move this thread to the correct section.
I am terrible at putting my threads in the right section and westward always moves them to the correct location.
This time I did actually look... and look... and look...
If you used a voltage tester to touch L-E does it allow the 230V to actually flow to earth or does it use a smarter means of calculating voltage without requiring a current to pass? In theory, could you damage a connected item downstream?
Hi everyone,
Which proving unit kit would you recommend? Obviously would be better to don't spend a fortune. Kewtech, Megger, Fluke o Martindale?
Thanks
My cheap and cheerful voltage tester packed up just before Christmas, so need to replace it (It lasted longer than the more expensive one I had before that broke at the cable joint to the second probe).
As we know, GS38 tips can be a pain, so I normally keep them off so that I can actually test...
Hello guys,
just looking for a bit of advice, I’d like to be able to use a voltage tester at home when required.
Are there any good videos or tutorials?
thank you
I have a Martindale VT12 voltage tester which is OK, but very quickly I discovered the continuity function is a right PITA. Test for volts on the neutral and it lights up and squeals at you!
Takes a moment to realise it is the continuity LED that has lit, and the squeal is slightly different...
I have 2 Fluke T150 and the cable broke on both and need to be changed. Is being 2 years now with heavy use so is not a surprise.
Dont want to use a normal flexible cable.
I have seen on Fluke website that is suppose to be a special cable to withstand the pulling, bending as much as possible.It...
I was looking at the Kewtech KT1780 voltage tester in toolstation, when I see the TIS 851 that is self proving and wondered if anyone used one and they are any good.
I just saw this on r/electricians, which is an electricians subreddit but is populated mostly from guys from the US.
I have to say, I appreciate Fluke's warnings : electricians - https://www.reddit.com/r/electricians/comments/b1rv6w/i_have_to_say_i_appreciate_flukes_warnings/eins6m5/
My mind...
So Put a couple of LED panels in new fabricated unit finished install and tested Zs, as you do. Fine on L-N not fine on L-PE, KT65 DL says voltage on earth 79v to be precise(ish?) Ok so just double check with Fluke T130 get 44v. This is present no matter what the state of the lights are i.e...
Does anyone know where i can get hold a pair of shrouds for the fluke t140 voltage tester, mine came glued on when i got it years ago, when i pulled them off they cracked, it hasn't been used in a while only just getting back into the game so i need a pair to pass calibration.
I've seen some...
I purchased a Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE 1 piece screwdriver set which I love.
However, the 247 Single-Pole voltage Tester screwdriver keeps breaking. I'm now on my third replacement!
My old voltage tester screwdriver I've had for over 25 years which was passed down to me by my father.
I only...
Has anyone seen this model before. I know it's old but not certain how old.
Am i correct in saying it has a solenoid inside it? It vibrates when a voltage is present on the probes.
Hi
I am probably going to sound stupid asking this question but here goes. I have just bought a new LAP voltage tester. when testing my plug sockets using a socket test connector I am getting a reading of .410V. Now this is where I will probably sound stupid but I was expecting around the 230V...
I've done a search on above, but doesn't appear to be many recent posts. What make of voltage tester are you using. I have Dilog Combivolt, the lead from the main body has become exposed. Not very good with less than two years of service. Anything more robust?
Evening all,
Was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with voltage testers more on the "basic" side, by means, im a first, coming second year apprentice now and im looking a new one without all the fancy clamp meters etc attatched as i dont really need it just yet, i just want a...
