Hi
I am working on a project and ran a cable down the wall for light switch but the wall is old batten style.
The wall is going to be skim sometime later this week but I am curious how would the back box be sorted later on. I am not sure if dry lining box would be an option. Any help or ideas...
I lost this:

I called BajaDesigns, they don't even have a manual for the light, directed me to another site they handed off these types of lights to which...
I live in a mid terraced house (ex council)which dates from around 1950. The supply is a TN-S with no loop out (I maybe looped off one of neighbours I don’t know)
The supply cables seem to lie along the bottom of floor void at front of property, with bricks having been removed/left out. This...
Is there any advantage from the perspective of current ratings/de-ratings of using galvanised round conduit over same size PVC conduit? With both to be chased/buried in brick wall and plastered over?
If so, where is this specified?
Cheers

My led wall light has 3 wires, I was expecting just live and neutral?
I have a live, neutral and another connection with both live and neutral.
Trying to connect to n and l wires coming out the wall?
Apologies if this question is not in the right section.
As per title, I am considering a wall mounted tv in my kitchen.
Whilst i have one in my main living room, it is above a stand so displaying wires was sorted and there is a power outlet below which made things easy.
I have a couple of...
With a cavity wall running down between a two drive way each client would like led brick lights. Other than swa, which is not that flexible to work with in such a small space, looking for tips on what other type of cable would be acceptable to use which is also easier to work with and terminate...
Hi guys. Just after some advice on what you think the best way of getting swa through a cavity wall.
Do you use just use T&E, conduit and wiska boxes before transfering to swa or just go straight through with the SWA? What do you think the tidiest method is?
I only ask as I'm running power to...
I want to replace my current 6 gang switch board with a glass panel switch board. Bought it online. But when I got the board I realised it's bigger than my current board and it won't fit in the current hole. I can make a bigger hole but the current clip won't fit either. I tried Bunning they...
My first post and thank you for reading.
I live in a commercial building that was converted to residential. I have a walk in closet where the light switch was installed inside the closet. I am adding shelving and want to move the switch so that it is on the other side of the wall to make space...
A very daft question from someone who doesn’t crawl around under houses for a living.
Our shower pump has failed and needs replacing, it’s buried underneath the floor and rather than lifting Lino/plywood and/or laminate flooring I’ve lifted the carpet in the spare room and cut a hatch in the...
Hi
Client doesn’t want external cable . Shop with a three way mains incomer 9 m away . 2 flats fed on other feeds .So was going to run the 16mm SWA from the incomer in a low wall chase internally and run up the wall into a flush CU . So no RCD protection but earthed sheath . Do I have to sink...
Hi everyone. I've recently bought a coffee machine but didn't notice that the plug is NEMA 1-15P. I'm living in Asia and we're typical using a 3 pin wall socket. I used a travel adapter but unfortunately the fuse fried. I've ordered an adapter for conversion to 2 pin but don't know if that...
Hello all: First post from a DIY'er.
My daughter, who lives in a Dallas, Tx suburb, has asked me to connect her new electric oven. Her previous oven was gas. I asked her to send me a pic of any outlets in the cabinet opening once she removed the old oven. (See Pics Below) The house was built...
Could I run a low voltage cable that comes out of a stud wall and back in again 50mm later to get past a stud. I don't have access above that part of the wall.
It would be covered by a cabinet but of course if seen it would look very dodgy. I was thinking of labelling the cable at the very...
I'm not a pro, just looking at strategy for a village hall install.
In the bar area, there are a number of devices which need to be switched on in one go. Some LED lights, a video monitor, wifi externder, other low power stuff. They are the type with the plug in 13A to low volt wall adapters...
Wall light not working...
Have two wall lights that are connected together on the same circuit, but can't get one of them to work - changed the fitting itself and (obvs) changed bulb...
Seems to be current flowing, cos I hold up a 'cable finder' meter when it is switched on and reading goes...
We are changing a bathroom cabinet and the old one had a cable on it which is coming out of the wall, I'm assuming it is for a light fitting in the cabinet (which it didn't have). Our new cabinet doesn't require any power so I'd like to get rid of the wire. The new cabinet will need to go on...
