Afternoon chaps,
Just wondered what the best textbook is for starting out assuming one has no electrical knowledge?
I've bought the 2365 C&G textbook on electrical installations level 2 but it seems a little advanced still?
Is there a popular book which takes it back to basics? I don't...
Ok this is a little play on "what is your ---- star name" game. This is were you remember your first childhood pet (as the the first name) then add the first word of your childhood street name (as the surname).
NOW add what song was number ONE in the charts when you was born. This web site...

I'm looking to take my part P soon so will need a 17th Edition Meter. So I thought in for a penny in for a pound. I'm gonna splash the cash and buy all new meters. All my current meters are cheap, but I now want a good set. Is Megga worth the money, Metrel MI3000 Easi Plus Multifunction Tester...
So my thinking for this post is that hopefully I will be time served at the end of the year and wondering where I want to take my career. I'd like to hear from everyone; house bashers, industrial, commercial, offshore, maintenance sparks(shout if I forgot you) and what a typical day is for you...
I'm recently qualified but I have a problem that wasn't covered in my course. My customer wants his consumer unit mounted some distance from the meter, which would require 11 meter tails. I haven't asked my DNO yet but expect them to say this is a not allowed. If they say 3 meters max, do I...
Hi all -
Let me preface this by saying I'm definitely not an electrician - I've rewired some lamps/appliances, changed fuses, and have done a couple of down-light transformers, but that's about the extend of my experience.
One of my 9 kitchen down-lights (halogen) has been intermittently...
I have just written what I considered to be an intelligent and thought provoking post that I was hoping would lead to an intelligent political discussion.I hit the "post" button only to be confronted with a large red cross and the words "YOU HAVE BEEN BLOCKED" in big letters,is this the work of...
For the eagle eyed out there, can you tell me whats wrong with this arrangement and for a bonus point what reg. no. would apply.
The only bit of info you need is that its a TT system.
Hi, I've installed two dimmer 60w Led bulbs, one in the bedroom and the other one in the dining room.
The first one is controlled by a 400w 2 Gangs 2 Way Dimmer BT (this one British General 2-Gang 2-Way 400W Push Dimmer Switch White | Dimmer Switches 400W | Screwfix.com) which control both the...
Hi
I looking to get a new combi twinpack and like the idea of getting compact/lightweight tools rather than using my Dewalt combi which is giving me an arm like Popeye.
I've seen the new Fuel 12v combi and impact driver twinpack from Milwaukee **link removed**
What makes Milwaukee's Fuel...
What's everyone doing on their day of rest then. I'm currently sat in the queue for Wimbledon, Been here since 2pm yesterday. I'm number 437 in queue and guaranteed centre court tickets
Hi I'm new to this forum so hello all,i would like to know the answer to this question.i come across this quite often where a radial circuit feeding 1 double socket had been connected to the same mcb as the ring main, now as we know a radial circuit feeding a socket should be protected by a 20amp...

Hi guys, I am a alarm engineer fitting and servicing alarms fire/intruder CCTV door access and security lights.
I'm a bit sick of carrying my bag around. Have seen theses metal cases anyone recommended one for me ?
I don't know if they look reliable.
Cheers in advance
Just been to a job today, newly installed flood lights on a dusk to dawn sensor. They've paid serious dollar and the spark who fitted them won't come back.. Well as soon as I turn up I see the problem... Answers on a postcard.. Where do you think the photocell was fitted?
Hi all,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this as I can't work out what's going on. We moved into the house a year ago and was told the power to the detached garage was disconnected at the house, but as far as I can tell it's still connected at both house and garage. There's a cable running...
