I have a situation where a 120v outlet(15Amp) quit working. The breaker is putting out 120volts but at the outlet it shows 9v(meter is on the hot and neutral wire).
However when I put the probes across the hot and ground I get 120v and when I put it across the neutral and ground I get 120v.

Every time i go to do this, even with correctly fitting sleeving, it seems to be a right **********")£"$$* of a job getting all three in snugly without the sleeving riding up and making it difficult to tell whether i clamped on sleeving or copper.
Any tips for not fighting with this? It just...
Hello, I am an enthusiast amateur undertaking wiring of two outbuilding under a building notice. I am soon to be subject to a first fix inspection by the council appointed electrical company. I have previously wired a large part of my house through the same route achieving a satisfactory...
Hi all! I'm not a spark but know enough to be able to install off grid solar etc. I've just purchased a new house and have noticed the consumer unit was extended at some point:
The additional unit is from the kitchen as they had a new kitchen fitted. My concerns are with the quality of the...
Hi all,
The PRD went on my Triton electric shower. I opened it up to find out where a replacement would go, and someone mentioned that the wiring was wrong. Could any of you experts out there confirm based on the attached? They said is has live/neutral reversal and it's missing the cable grip.
(Trying again, as picture didn't post first time)
Hi, I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me here. Below, I've pasted a sketch showing how my oven is currently wired up, followed by 3 potential solutions, but of course I'd be more than happy to see alternative propositions. But let me...

Wired my home in Europe (obviously 220v there). My assumption is wires are wires and as long as the AMPs are covered, it can be used in north america. I have a cottage I want to update some old wiring there, and am considering bringing over the leftovers as it's much cheaper here. Anyone know of...

Hi all.
I just unscrewed the faceplate in order to replace the scoket and noticed that there is a red and a green wire going into the Earth terminal. Is this red wire an earth, despite the colouring? I've put it back in for now as I didn't want to mess with it.
Given the old colours, the thick...

I'm starting a new construction single-family residence, I know with the 2020 NEC they require an emergency disconnect on the exterior of the home. My confusion is do I treat the emergency disconnect as the main disconnect, and the main breaker panel would be wired like a subpanel with separate...
