Nope we usually run 4 x sockets on a 20A radial for domestic. Commercial can vary, 4 per circuit in offices but might only be 2 or 3 per circuit in say a commercial kitchen.

They seem to use the British 15 A switched socket outlets for Air Con and other heavier type load circuits in China, India and other Southeast Asian countries. Generally from what i've seen, on single point radials or sometimes supplying 2 points...

Sounds like a plan to me. Or, bearing in mind it's on its own circuit, change the 15A unfused plug (how is a 15A plug unfused? Ahh well...) for a fused one, charge the customer £2500 and go on holiday. Thinking about that, Murdoch's answer is better than mine.

Murdochs reply maybe better than yours, but i like the sound of the 2 and half grand more than his solution.

You can fill out an Electrical installation certificate if you have a lot of deviations to rectify, you only need to test and inspect the circuits you have work on, just fill out N/A in the parts of the report not applicable and on the front page were you are ask to enter the extent of the installation cover in this report write for example "remedial work to rectify items 1,2,3 and 4 of EICR 12345678" or if there there is only a couple of deviations then minor work certs would be OK , If you are not working or altering any circuits for example securing a loose accessory then you could just identify the remedial work you have done on the invoice to the customer and reference it to the EICR number and observation number.
If you disagree with a coding identified you could also put this in writing to the customer or although sometimes it easier to rectify the deviation rather than trying to explain why in you view that its OK and does not require and remedial action .

15 amp sockets are commonly used on lighting rigs in theatres and my Nan's house god rest her sole :)
thanks for that.it's clarified what i was kind of thinking. it is important though to protect yourself so this sort of advise should feature somewhere in the OSG in my opinion

We used to use dedicated circuits with 2A sockets for table lamps. As i remember the 2A sockets weren't provided with a switch, switching was provided by a wall switch at or next too the rooms general lighting switch

OK until I got my exwife playing merry hell with me because she can't plug the hoover in to the lighting.

As far as I know MK still make 2, 5 and 15 amp sockets. For dedicated circuits they are great.

Seen the 5amp sockets being used on new build....cue the first / second owner "can you change this funny foreign socket for a "normal" socket"
Worse...I can see someone swapping it for a 13amp and then wondering why the lights suddenly go out / light switch starts smoking.....

So how do you provide dimmed outlets for table and standard lights without a non standard socket?

I can’t imagine my ex wandering around the room to each lamp. I had to install the dimmers next to her armchair!
Typical of her after the rooms redecorated she decides she wants a mini spot near her chair for doing cross-stitch. She damn near wrapped the angle poise lamp around my neck, out came the hammer and chisel again!

It's enough to make a grown man bite his own arse or drive him to drink !!
