Can't believe this is now up to 6 pages!!
Did OP ever find reasoning behind C2 for 15A plug & socket arrangement?
A standard UK 3Kw @ 240V immersion heater fitted to a domestic HWC definitely DOES NOT have uninsulated elements unless it is faulty.

I Know!!

I had almost lost the will to live after page 3 - which has never been the same since Linda Lusardi packed-up her assets and moved on.

15 amp round pin, now your talking, must be an old installation at least 50yrs?. Rewire on the cards lol:skull:

They are used a lot in theatre and stage lighting.

Those flying trusses that you see hanging over stages have flying leads all over them & each has a rubber Duraplug type 15 amp socket on the end of it. The lamps get hung & clamped to the truss and the lamp has a flying lead with a corresponding 15 amp plug.

That' s about all I know about lighting - I did the sound.

Did not know that, just googled it surprised me, ripped loads of this stuff out (15amp) in the late 70's in all the big Victorian houses in London, all lead, VIR rubber etc, plus accessories

Oh yes .. my Mum's house had a mixture of 5 Amp and 15 Amp round pin sockets. Her mum's house did to, but her's had some two pin round pin sockets scattered about the place as well !!

But, they're still standard in theatre lighting systems as our Friend Rockingit will tell us.

Still occasionally install 5a sockets on a lighting circuit. i.e to plug table lamps in controlled by dimmer. It is getting extremely rare now though/

I come across many commercial office lighting installations with all the fittings on 5A plug and sockets. Where I am the round pin 15 amp plugs are standard installation both domestic and commercial. Big advantage is it saves having to deal with those pesky fuses ;)

Yes. I've seen that but never done it. I thought it was a good idea.

Means you can switch on or of all the table lights etc in one swell foop.

Well well, are the 15amp s/o on their own individual circuits?

Nope we usually run 4 x sockets on a 20A radial for domestic. Commercial can vary, 4 per circuit in offices but might only be 2 or 3 per circuit in say a commercial kitchen.

We used to use dedicated circuits with 2A sockets for table lamps. As i remember the 2A sockets weren't provided with a switch, switching was provided by a wall switch at or next too the rooms general lighting switch
