Hi, I'm at a job where there is 4x16 amp sockets protected by 4x16 amp rcbos in a bollard, the customer now wants 6 amp rcbos cause he wants to limit what people are using can you do this? I suppose it will just trip if people use more than 6 amps

He's adamant that's what he wants as he has various IP rated boxes with sockets doted around the yard already which have 1 RCD and 4x 6 amp MCBs so he wants the same in the new bollard but as RCBOs
Just go ahead, £70, job done, and follow Murdoch's advice, the customer will have to deal with the angry boar boat owners.
Though I would be tempted to apply a label stating maximum 6 amp load per supply.
At least if they are type C this will slow down the tripping rate!

Some of the student accommodation I've worked in, has a ring circuit feeding say 6 rooms, each room has a 6amp rcbo (in a locked enclosure) fed from the ring, the rcbo feeds a radial to the sockets in that room(there is notice fixed advising not to plug in high powered items like kettles, heaters, irons etc) so if the student runs a heater, he then has to tell the porter his power has gone off! Some of the other rooms had rcd fused Spurs fitted with 5amp fuses, needless to say there was evidence of multiple fuse replacements to the holders!
