I've not read any of the 18th edition drafts but have read some summary points of what to expect. I understand there will be some emphasis on energy conservation. Is anyone aware of what this will entail (in domestic installs) other than low energy lighting?

Unsure how true but I have heard there will be emphasis on using increased conductor sizes to minimise heat loss in cables.

I can see us running 10mm ring mains on 20A MCBs! :D

The last few jobs I've run the consultants have specified 2.5mm lighting circuits on 10A MCBs and 4mm ring mains on 32A MCBs. I suspect out of shear laziness. Why do a cable calc when you can just oversize everything?

The job I'm currently running has a 32A supply for a trace heating system, 15 meters in length with a 16mm twin and earth with a separate 16mm 6491B CPC! Crazy!

We've only got till July next year to find out.

I'm saving up my pennies, so I can spend it on a lovely course to tell me how to use an index, and answer some questions, currently around ÂŁ400ish.
