18th edition question

Imagine if an actual jpel/64 committee member actually spoke to us lowly electricians and actually explained what their reasoning is behind some of the regulations.
Like a Q&A session

That’s NEVER going to happen .... and they wonder why more and more people are doing sparking without the proper regs and knowledge

The regs are written by people so far removed from the coal face they should be shaking Neil Armstrong’s hand ...

The only thing I can think that is as close as is the NICEIC tech talks but some people have a problem with that organisation but I’m going to the riverside Stadium one in December so I’ll report back.
I’m also now QS for my company so I’m going to do the assessors head in on the next assessment haha

Be interested to hear what spin has to say, if this turns out to be wrong well fair enough. But I cant help thinking it's not going to be wrong.
Has nobody else done the 18th, was there no discussion of this?

I did it a month back and we were told by the tutor cables above a plasterboard ceiling need not be supported by metalic fixings... So the opposite of your tutor.... This trade is getting a joke

The fire rating of plasterboard was raised during the discussion, but this was not considered to meet the requirement for supporting wiring systems
Which discussion please?
Every public discussion involving the IET, Certsure, or NAPIT has stated that a plasterboard ceiling is fine as a fire break, thus anything above is fine without metallic fixings.
