looking at some of the draft papers out at the moment on 18th,am I right to assume we may be getting back to installing cabling correctly.
Bringing back galv conduit, metal trunking, will plastic conduit be obsolete to comply to 18th.

I worked on an extension to a hotel at Paddington Station a few years back.
Primary containment down the corridor, containment branching off into two of the suites, which then became fix cables to ceiling with all round band to branch off into the suites.

Depends on the job then i guess.

I am currently on another new building for oxford university who are quite particular with how the install should be.

I am living a sheltered life perhaps!

How’s the travelling or are you staying in Morses old gaff? You were in London for a while weren’t you. Good to hear you back - lurking or not often on the forum?

All the jobs i work on these days are done in metallic conduit, trunking, tray, basket, ladder etc.

The only plastic is normally the DADO trunking.

Not T&E in sight.
can I get a job

Agree, but changes are not always for the better, personally I think the electrical standards of today,in workmanship are worse, this new compliance as I see it,could work better for the industry, better installation practices right from the start, & not heath robinson

Yes it would be nice if this meant everyone started installing proper containment again, but clients aren't going to let you "mess about" with metalwork when there's a Heath Robinson 'quick fix' available.

Not sure I would agree that the Regs are too complicated or too ambiguous.
Compared to some, they’re a doddle.
Yes there are lots of people who don’t want to comply with them for various reasons.
Yes it would be better if the IET didn’t publish guides that contradict the Regs or introduce requirements which are not found in the Regs.
The majority of discussions (arguments) regarding the Regs are either due to a lack of understanding or a desire not to comply.

Travelling to Headington in Oxford each day now. I was in Bracknell on the lexicon regeneration project.

Getting pretty tired of it now to be honest. Looks like London will be next stop after this project or possibly Didcot. Time will tell, and i can always come off the cards and work more locally if i decide i guess.

Not on here much these days but lurk sometimes mate.
Hope all is good.

:)
