I just wanted to share my find from a small job today.

I was at my friends to do a couple of bits for him before he moves out and noticed his CU. all very neat TN-S supply, and the MET had 10mm bonding and earthing conductor all dressed nicely. Then i noticed the other MET with only 16mm from the incoming cable.
When i asked what was going on, he showed me a bit of 16mm that he found on the floor when he moved in and just left at the back of the cupboard. It used to link the 2 METs
The House had been without a proper earth for at least the 2years he had been there.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest!
Checked out someone's house once, pulled on the Gas bond, it kept on pulling...yes, just a couple of feet shoved through the floorboards not connected to anything. It was relatively new as well.

i hope you refitted that bit of 16mm and then performed a Ze.

I had some 16mm on the van so i replaced the piece from the incoming cable with a longer piece so there is now only 1MET.

I have never heard or read of one, but just out of curiosity is there any reg or advisory against having more than one MET at a CU?
I cant think of a decent reason as to why not apart from neatness.

hope you did a Ze to confirm that the 16mm is in fact connected to the neutral in the head.
