Please can any of you fine people give me a little hand, I ve fitted a 230v outlet industrial socket, the connections are s2 and r1, which one is live and which one is negative since this is the first time I ve actually fitted one of these. Cheers in advance

"An industrial 230V outlet" - well, that narrows that one down, then. :6:

Mate I ve checked everywhere can't find anything

This is where industrial safety or non safety comes in.......if the system your are wiring to is standard non safety wiring...then follow the instruction on what terminal is neutral and what is live, as Richards post.....if the system is via a 1:1 safety transformer commonly used in factory production lines, then there is no neutral, and both are lives, which does not matter which terminal you use. But you much ensure what system has been installed to ensure safety.

Some 3ph plugs have terminals marked up as R - S - T for the phases so i expect its a similar coding albeit confusing in the EU market... bet is use Richards pic as a guide or open a similar plug or socket and copy the positional terminations....

Edited .... deleted last paragraph ... put something that will cause more confusion than it solves ... l'll leave that to a more indepth conversation me thinks ;)

Would say this is the best point of call to blame the EU.....we will never be the same again....
remember commando sockets and plugs being marked L1, L2, and L3....?
