All tables and references for the 17th Ed BRB were modified to take account of the change to the harmonized nominal voltages where this makes a difference.

ahhh right bcos i was thinking the difference in voltage would mean a difference in current. this results in a difference of protective devices.

so for example 220v in the sticks - 9.5kw shower would need 45amp mcb and in the city a 40amp mcb, and yet we still record both properties as 230 volts. But then again i guess with 6mm cable being rated to 46 amp, its not such a big deal...

Also does the voltage supplied have a tendancy to fluctuate, for instance in the sticks one day could it be 220 the next 215 and the next 225 or not?

Just interesting for me to note these things and store them away.

It does fluctuate and BS 50160 allows it to within surprisingly wide tolerance bands, I'll post one of my power quality sheets up when I get back to the office.
