Hi all, im studying 2365 level 3 and working on the coursework, im down to question 4 working on table 1, now its asking for cable lengths, with no dimensions on the images how am i supposed to have any idea how long the cable will need to be? theres no structure information so i dont know then best cable runs etc, i feel like theres alot of information missing that would be required in a normal day to day quote here! or am i missing something completely?

thanks in advance for any help!

sorry mate didnt think of that! ve attached the question and the table im filling in as well as the basic drawing (dont want to attach the one ive drawn on in case its not allowed), i feel like im overthinking or missing something

That’s a scale, no measurements still, and no mention of paper size, do I assume it’s A4 then? And again without knowing the structure, how do I plan a containment type? Or cable routes? It’s all just a guess and I’m not a fan of guessing! Lol

A4 paper is easily available and could be used as a start point. If you print on A4 then use your scale ruler and measure an internal door width and it is 762mm wide then you can be fairly sure it is right.
Usually there is a starting description for the series of questions on the scenario that provides information about the scenario that is common to all questions, this may have wall construction and cable installation information.

yer it works out the internal doors are 600 wide according to the scale when printed on a4, makes the swimming pool 9m... i doubled all my measurements to make it a little more realistic! its also asking for actual Zs, how can i know that with no indication of Ze? im all for good design but the lack of information here is ridiculous

Ive just recently completed the cafe, pool assignment.
You would of been given a specification/info sheets preceeding the questions sheets which has what type of cable ie swa, singles, ambient temp ect. it also says the Ze.

I uploaded a cable calculations sheet in the resources section here which will help.

Do you not have any introduction at the start of the questions?
Something like
There is a new proposed hotel extension and cafe with a basement swimming pool, the building is to be constructed of brick cavity wall with dot and dab plasterboard and all wiring is to be run under the plasterboard. The installation is supplied from a TNS 3 phase power supply with 100A main fuses and an 80A switch fuse to a main distribution board. The Ze is 0.60Ω and all main bonding to extraneous conductive parts is present and correct.
Loki has beaten me to it much more succinctly:(!

As an aside it looks like the diagram at 100% scale would fit neatly on an A3 page with 20mm margins, possibly that is the A3 at the far right of the drawing number. However not very useful for a home situation.
From an A4 sheet then the dimensions would be root 2 (1.414) times larger.

Wow that’s good information in the scanned document, I have absolutely none of that! Thanks man! The training provider I’m using is bloody useless as that’s not on any of the PDF’s they’ve sent me!

Whos your training provider out of interest?
You cant do the design etc without that info. How would you know that the 4 fridges are supplied by 2 16A circuits or theres 3phase supplying the food holding equipment ect.
Its a big assignment that takes a lot of time to complete.

Feel free to pm me if you get stuck or have any questions regarding this assignment

@forum mods

Now that Stear has download my scanned document regarding assignment specifications etc that i used for my assignment you might want to delete the file from my post further up?

thanks for uploading that Loki, im going to have to use it, ive been through everything they have sent me and i have nothing even close to that!
