how long before you do the written exam - they giving you past papers to revise from. Quite a few questions on the minutiae/detail of those forms, silly questions in my opinion but they all get marks, so learn them well. Good luck.

edit - oops hadn't realised there was a page 2! you already said when the exam is.

Day 3 over.

Very interesting day, got onto the practical testing side of things. this is my strong point thankfully. I haven't been doing my r1/rN/r2 tests properly, and i haven't been doing the R1+R2 at every socket outlet on the ring either, but everything else i am pretty much on the ball. I can interpret the results, predict results, find the faults and do whatever correction factors i need to work out as well. So i was pleased to find about the depth of knowledge i had. On day one we were warned that it is advisable to have had a good deal of testing experience prior to doing the course. I am glad i had it, it allows me to put my efforts into the thoery side which is definitely my weak point. I have a couple of weeks to the written test, so i have plenty of time to get on top of it, and i will.

So those of you who are planning to do this course MUST, get some experience, digest GN3, make friends with BS7671 book again.
If you do that then your chances are much improved, but i wont count my chickens yet cos i have still got it to pass.

Day 4 tomorrow............watch this space.

Cheers.............Bob, er sorry..........Howard. You know what i mean Phil.

:DWell done howard ! sounds like you are on top of things :D
Im going to order GN3 asap , and bs 7671 i often skim through but i will get my course notes from 2330 to re apply myself to some serious learning.
I managed to get on board a good firm with a good sparky at the beginning of this year, so im gonna knuckle down & develop my understanding of this facinating subject:D
Good luck to you with the rest of your 2391 fella, im sure you're gonna do fine:D

Cheers KK. Get your hands on any testing and inspection books. As you say GN3, 17th edition. The OSG is a help, and Brian Scadden is an authority on the subject, so any of his books are good as well. The more you study you do and the more experience you get, the easier you will find it. Even better if you can get someone to show you and let you do a bit, as any good mentor should. I had to teach myself, although i am not a thick t**t, i am not a brain surgeon either, so if i can learn it, anyone can. I can't emphasise enough how important it is to get as much info and practice as possible. Those who have trodden the path in front of me will no doubt vouch for the same.

Cheers...............Howard
