Yep, the 1.0mm R1+R2 calculation was a bit annoying. Couldn't work out if it was a mistake in the paper or they were expecting you to work it out from the data provided. In the end I just estimated it to be 18 milliohms per metre.

(edit: By the way, the true value is 18.1 milliohms. So multiplying the 10mm conductor value by 10 (giving 18.3) would get you pretty close. I did it the other way by multiplying the 1.5mm value by 1.5 (giving 18.15). But just estimated 18 as there is not an exact linear relationship between size and resistance. Don't know if we'll ever know what they were really expecting!)

I thought the exam was actually quite straightforward - not many very difficult questions, and the scenario was nice and simple. If you've done half a dozen past papers you've probably seen about 75% of the questions before, in one form or another. Kicking myself cos I wrote down IP4X instead of IPX4 for the bathroom light. Just rushed and not concentrating.

sorry no exam paper....
But a couple of questions last night were:

draw the complete earth fault loop path for a tns system including all the notes/descriptions. (15 marks) get that one stamped in your head as it's a common one!

work out the parrallel resistance of a set of 8 or 9 IR readings

one nasty one was being asked to work out circuit resistance (r1+r2) of a light circuit in 1mm line and cpc, but all that was given was circuit length of 50metres . on the next page was resistance readings per metre for 1.5, 2.5, 4, 6 and 10mm cable..... not 1.0mm!!!!
so the only thing i could think of was to multiply the 10mm resistance by 10 to get resistance for 1mm.

usual questions of what meter for what test

the test papers in the exam success really do give you good preperation

Once again i ran out of time, could have done with another 15 minutes ideally. I took too long drawing the 3 step test for CRFCct's i think qu 22 as it was a full juicy 15 marks. hopefully have bagged full 15 in that i reckon but when i next looked at the clock i only had about 20 mins left!!
So didn't even waste time trying to attempt 23's calculations, the last one i did fully was draw the tn-s EFL path and labelled it, Ze (R1+R2) etc, then had about 5 mins left to do anything i could, ie qu 23 b) i think asked to work out Zs, well i never attempted to get R1+R2 from 23 a) but still wrote down Zs = Ze + (R1+R2) for b).
Whether i get any marks or not is something else but

I think i dropped about 30 marks through not even attempting some or running out of time but the one's i did i answered in a quality fashion so i'm hoping i didn't drop another 30 marks elsewhere.

If not back to the drawing board and i'm tempted to start scenario B first if there's need for a next time!

Pretty much the same as me - I was writing furiously as I hadn't noticed that tiny little one line q26 which was 15 marks. Luckily enough I could do that diagram in my sleep so got it all down and labelled in about 4 minutes. Do you agree it was a pretty simple paper? Or have I just been overstudying? :) Actually I missed the Dec exam due to snow so I revised twice for this exam.

Good luck smug, yeah it seemed more straight forward than the last paper i had. I rattled through the first half dozen in no time at all. I thought the wording of the questions was much easier to understand. Maybe it's just because i'm getting used to there strange language! Lol.

That was the easiest paper i have done out of all the practice ones i messed up big time the 3 step ring main easy 15 marks went completey blank the R1 +R2 did 1.2 x c.s.a x length what an idiot such a simple sum lost most marks their though the paper was easy so didn't use the right termology looks like back to the drawing board for me. doubt i will get a paper like that again.the thing was a new all the answers apart from the 1mm R1 +R2 WOULD OF MESSED THAT ONE UP. depends who is marking might just get a squeeze. q 1 went blank. limitaion one went blank mainly nerves for me.

Hi everyone,
I have been looking around and see that some of you fine chaps may have a sample 2391 paper lying around. Would be grateful if anyone could send me a copy?
