hi guys im pretty annoyed on this latest news aswel, as ive just started the 2391-20 after passing my 2391 in march, but if this is true that the current 2391-20 will be changing to a level 4 qual, its seems pretty pointless taking the 2391-20 design course now! does any1 know where i stand with this and if i would be allowed to pull out of the course?

I've been wondering where people who already hold 2400/2391-02/2391-20 stand. They hold a Level 3 qualification, and it is proposed that 2396 (without looking up the course identification number I believe that is it) will be at Level 4. Does this disadvantage those who hold the Design course at Level 3?

I would have thought it would be the other way around - everyone knows what the 2391 is and it will take a long time for the new qualification to be accepted.
I expect employers will still ask for the 2391 over the new qualification because the 2391 will be seen as 'an old school qualification from before qualifications were dumbed down when electricians did a decent days work and all this was fields'.

id expext so buddy its going to seem to the employers that if you have the 2391-10 then you will have more real life exp than the new qual to start with at least ! just like say a new hgv c+e licence holder compared to a more exp driver who has the licence cat for longer !

Did that just make sense ? its been a long day ! i will prob fall asleep in a min a dream im driving a hgv ! even my dog looks puzzled !

Yes.
Or like saying you've got 8 O levels and 3 A levels,
as opposed to
participating in a failed experiment at a GCSE replacement, 2 GNVQs and an International Baccalaureate.

Well today is the day. - City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing course

I have just checked with City and Guilds and the cut off date is still today - C&G haven't told us anything further as yet with regards to an extension.

We are still receiving enquiries from guys wanting to know what the options are and if they really have to sit both of the new courses - and this is not the case.

I have put the following blog together for anyone who doesn't know the purpose of the new courses, or which course is required for THEIR requirements.

The 2391 used to cover both intitial verification and PIRs
but now seperated into the 2 you have mentioned 2394 and 95
they look slightly different though as there is now an on line muti choice
so do they go into more detail than 2391-10
Mate i have jsut finished getting all quals apart from finishing the NVQ hopefully and dont plan yet on replacing, will the 2391 ever have to be updated by me taking the above
thanks for the useful info

No mate I wouldn't be too concerned with it. Your 2391 is yours for life as is mine.

the only way you would need to retrain on it is if there is a huge swing in the way we do this, or if - as a couple of people suggest now and then - we are all instructed to update the qualification with a re-assessment in which case, we would all be in the same boat.

thats a relief mate as at over 6K later I stopped counting ages ago so dont really know exact figure but its shocking and last 3 yrs studying like mad would hate to have to start it all again lol
Cheers mate be glad to get me NVQ done and then have a break from it all
overall i enjoyed the 2391 the most studied like mad at home 12 hrs every day for 4 months 8 week evening course 1 eve a week 3 hrs
wouldnt have passed if i hadnt studied at home and all the help i got from the forum
and to pass first time and out of 39% of the overall people who did pass feel it was my greatest achievment and how its a lv3 compared to regs and 2377 2393 etc is a joke out of all i have done the one that required the most effort

cheers for info mate
