Hi lads and lass's

I'm after a little advice, I've spent the last 2 years going to night school and have gained the following qualifications, 2330 level 2 & 3, 2392, 2382.
My question is, what are your thoughts on doing 2391? Is it necessary?

I really value your input on this as I'm currently a service engineer so not directly working in the business.

Regards

Ben

To work as an electrician - NO
Although with the agencies full of out of work sparks the employers are now looking for 2391 where before they may not have.

YES - if you technically want to be in the top third of electricians in the UK although there are most prob many many better and more experienced sparks than me who don't have it

YES - if you want to be considered as a foreman or qualified supervisor on bigger jobs

These are just my opinions, there will be many more m8

500 or so. If you want to be a a fully qualified electrician 2391 is a must. Without evidence you can inspect, test & certify your installations in my opinion you ain't a fully qualified spark as this is the true brains behind the installation. I highlight this is only my opinion

Shuffo1, if I was you I'd do it asap. Your level 3 and 2392 that you have just completed (well done BTW) will still be fresh in your head and will help you pass it.

I think its around ÂŁ450 for the ten week course at my local college. I think I've got to do it to be honest, I'll regret it if I dont!
The next issue is securing a job in the trade, with limited practical experience due to my current job I feel that will go against me due to it being so competitive!

Thanks for the advice guys

at ÂŁ450 its a good price.
the 2391 like many quals only goes towards backing to prove competence. try to get as much hands on practicle experience as possible. as you are fresh out of the level 3 2330 you should not find it too much different on the prac exam side.
get your terminology right and a second hand copy of gn3 to read through the summer and you will stand a far better chance if you know what they are talking about in the class room. any qual you have that you can add to the cv is always good and if its someone identicle to yourself going for the job the extra qual could well swing it for you

As a few on here have said do the 2391 whilst your other electrical theory is in your head. I did 2391-01 back in the day and I dread the thought of having to bring it upto date. I got 2382 though, but that's super multi guess.
