Discuss 2392-10 in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

gunner

guys, has anyone done this recently.would be obliged if you could give me an insight into the course and exam.thanks in advance

my mickey mouse training centre is a registered city and guilds college and has been for a very long time. but like i said i'm not argueing with anyone here. i've never stated that you do need 2392 to take 2391. if you read my previous posts and the thread i started called 2392 you would see that i've simply stated that i've tried to enrol for 2391 only to be told i have to do 2392.if you read my thread you'll see that i've asked the question of ''is this a new C+G thing or is my college pulling a fast one?'' and if you go to the thread you'll see that if it is a college thing than there seems to be a few places that have decided to take this stance.

you are becoming very much a joke now so if you cannot understand text wrighting i'll make it very clear to you now with perfect spelling mabe you will eat your words

i thought the original dispute was when mitch0001 stated that his college required him to do 2392 before 2391. to which you state that it is not a requirement according to C+G. no one has disputed that fact and to be fair that wasn't the argument.risteard said that some centres require 2392 before 2391 to which again you said you don't need to. that may be the case iceman and i'll state once again that i'm not arguing with you but the fact remains and this is my point. SOME COLLEGES DO REQUIRE YOU TO DO 2392 BEFORE 2391. it's obviously wrong that some places require this and others don't even though they are all to do with C+G.and i'll think you'll find this is the point that risteard.mitch001 and myself are trying to make.

No you do not need 2392 to be allowed to learn on 2391, but if you look at C&G web site the amount of candidate who pass the 2391 seems to be falling, some exam sitting the number how pass are less than 50%, when it first came out the the pass rate was in the high 80% even 90%, so why are less passing.

Is it getting harder, personnelly think not, what with study guides, text book, past papers etc, it should be easier.

May be it because of the experience of the candidate now taking the course, what experience of testing before the course do they possess, my friend whose lectures on these course is including more and more practical session which increases the course cost, because he finding more candidate have none or very little practical live testing experience.

This is why I believe the 2392 has come about, he ran it for the first time last year and students loved it, all who passed should go on tohopefully do the 2391 course, let see if it make a differnce.

Yes other may be using the 2392 to get extra funds.

Those who do use centre that require them to do the 2392 before the 2391, barter with them for a reduction on the cost of the 2 courses.

Or if your 200% certain that you can pass the 2391 without doing the 2392, asked them why they require you to do the course

Or find a different college.

you're right iceman that is a fare commet that zupos40 has made. fare commet indeed. the thing that gets me is 2392 is a level 2 course and surely this is a step back from 2330 level 3. doesn't take away from the fact that some centres are pushing 2392 first.

Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations 2391 & 2392
There are two inspection and testing courses now available from the City & Guilds.
The 2392-10 is a fundamental inspection and testing course designed for those with little or no inspection and testing experience. It is ideal both for electricians and associated trades as it provides a fundamental understanding of inspection & testing and if successful a recognised qualification.
The 2391-10 is a full scope inspection and testing qualification designed for experienced electricians who already have a sound knowledge of electrical installation practice and the inspection & testing process. Due to the in depth nature of this course, it is not suitable for students who are not fully conversant with BS 7671 and the use of test instruments.

I remember when I did my 2391-20 Design course (it started as 2400 then changed to 2391-20 by the exam) that we had a bloke sent on it by his company, when asked if he had 2391-10 testing & inspection he said no, told he would need to do it for the practical part of the exam and was then asked did he have 2381 again answer was no!

That was the last we saw of him as the college would not let him do it without having 2391-10 and they would not let him do that without first doing 2381.

When i asked how come lecturer said it was a college decision as they got paid by the number of passes they got and not by number of people taking the courses so they did not want 20 people to do a course to make up the numbers and only 5 pass thus doing course at a loss.

So if individual colleges say you need a certain qualification before starting another then that is up to them, I know when I went to do a level 3 CAD course you had to have the level 2 CAD course first before allowing you on it could be the same case for 2391-10 which is a level 3 and the 2392-10 being a level 2 course.

Old saying "Crawl before you walk and walk before you run";)
