Level 3 Certificate in the Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings (2393-10)

Last registration date: 31/12/2012

Hi All
I see from the C&G site that the last reg for the 2393 (building regs) is 31 dec.
Does anyone know what's happening after that? Is the syllabus going to change?

Thanks
Laurie

Sorry, typed the title wrong, should read 2393 - can a mod change it for me?

next year there is going to be a big announcement about changes to the part p regs after this years review & consultations.
so theres no point doing a building regs course next year till the updates.

No doubt it will be along the lines, that will strengthen the strangle hold the scheme providers already have!! All in the name of safety of course.

Maybe these providers should be asked outright,... How does registering 17 day wonders (and the like), with absolutely no working experience, or meaningful qualification compute in to being a competent person in a supposedly enhanced safety role??

I will shed a bit of light for you all.

The word is that anyone who is recruited or promoted into the position of "Qualified Supervisor" will have to hold a Level 3 NVQ in domestic installation. This is effective from April 2013 so i am led to believe, and it will only obviously have an impact on companies and individuals who carry out domestic work. Anyone who currently holds the post does not need to get the NVQ, but they will do if they move companies.

At the moment the qualification structure has not been finalised by the awarding bodies, C&G and EAL, so no surprise there. Again as and when i get any info, you will get to know. I have seen the draft units, and there is nothing to worry about, other than the expense, and in most cases it will insult your intelligence.

Cheers...........Howard
