2394/2395 to be scrapped!

as far as i understood it when the 2394/5 was a gap course while they got the new one for the 2391 done.

The 2391 was split into two to make it easier, (this is from the EV at City & Guilds). Even he is saying it is on it's way out because the pass rate was still crap. Not sure yet what they will replace it with but even he said it was a mistake to scrap the 2391.

Then the problem is in the training,.rushed over 5days and test

From doing 2330-07 Level 3 one, it was the same sore of test pratical and paper work, with a multi questions

Following the success of a pilot trial, City & Guilds intend to gradually phase out the 2394 and 2395 written exams. The traditional 302 written format will be replaced by the new 502 on-screen version which remains as a short answer two hour question paper, but whereby candidates type their answers on screen instead of writing on paper.
Candidates therefore need to be fully comfortable and conversant in terms of using a computer, however will not lose marks or be penalised for typing errors or spelling as long as their answers are technically correct and can be understood by the marker.

Perhaps they are going to introduce a smart 'apple' like pencil so candidates can draw EFL... :001_9898:

OK, I took these exams over the last 2 weeks so here's how it is:

The 2394 is the 1st week which is still a practical test. This is followed by a multi choice online exam which covers both 2394 & 2395. Then, what used to be the written test is now an online 2 hour test where you have to type in your answers. It really wasn't an issue. The diagrams and scenarios are available at the click of a button to refer to. The earth fault path is now easier as you don't have to draw it - it is already drawn for you and you have to simply identify the route taken and identify by name the different parts of the path.

The 2395 follows the same pattern with a practical and the 2 hour online closed book test.

Still waiting for the results though! Its taken 2 weeks so far to mark the 2394

I don't know why they think the pass rate is too low. I thought it was supposed to be a difficult exam, so that only electricians with the necessary skills and experience could pass it. Having said that I thought the 2394/5 were quite easy when I did them.

If you put the effort in then they shouldn't be too difficult. I agree that the low pass rate sort the wheat from the chaff and isn't necessarily a bad thing. It certainly challenged a few people on my course - me included.

I knew I'd passed after 8 weeks due to the fact that a couple of lads I took the course with had been sent letters informing them of their failure. All they would tell me though, was that "I'd be contacted soon". So it was 12 weeks in all.

Did you do the written version or the online one ? thanks

Written mate, it was 4 years ago. Don't think the 2391 went on for much longer.
