Yeah i wasnt 100% sure either. waffled something just for a punt really. I also walked out and all sorts of stuff were going through my head, like the SWA termination inspection. Was it just after about the termination or the glanding? I ended up putting ID of conductors, tightness of terminals, presence of cpc, correct polarity and if the insulation was still intact. Not sure if that was what if it was after.

if i remember correctly it said inspection of swa cable and its conductors, 3 phase and neutral
i put correct identification of conductors by means of sleeving
banjo fitted correctly and earthed to earth bar
correct type of swa gland is used either interior or exterior
check is correctly and securely fixed
the shroud is in place to protect the gland from moisture

think about it this test is mainly inspections

well it was question 4a and it was about the water heater circuit in a 13a fcu i think anyway. what was your volt drop ?
i worked it to be 6.8v

I did the 2391 a while back ;)

It is 3% for lighting and 5% for everything else generally

So for a water heater 11.5 V would be allowed.

one question that really got me was something like whats the purpose of the of confirming the volt drop? have to say my brain had nothing for that. left unanswered, 3 marks it was.

Apart from other answers already posted, would an excessive volt drop be indicative of a high Z esse?

OK then, would it show up a dodgy Neutral?
Obviously have to be a loaded live test, L to N.

I am not really sure what you are getting at Archy, we were told measuring the voltage at each end is not a valid test, it was to be calculated by measuring the resistance of the cable and estimating the length via the tables, working out your design current, then calculating your mV/A/m over a 1000.

Ahh see I thought it had termination in bold which I took as the actual cores terminated in the terminals :dunce2:
