2396, HNC - HND, opinions?

Evening all.

I'm looking at furthering myself educationally. Have got 2394/95 and have been looking at both 2396 and HNC.

other than the cost and time of the HNC being a lot higher than 2396 what's people's opinions of each of them?

I have recently completed the 2396,

Heavy going but worth it in the end. Starting a Siemens plc course next week which should be another challenge.

I've just started out by myself so hopefully with a few more quid in my pocket and a couple of lads working for me.

Keep eyeing the 2396 for that extra depth in knowledge. Would ideally prefer the commercial work route so it could come in handy judging by what I've read about the course.

Done mine in Northern Ireland. It was also a hard to find a centre. Took me two years tbh.

After doing my CompEx refresher I thought I'd have a look into some courses to educate myself and maybe further myself in life and came across the 2396 again, what would be the next step if I took and hopefully passed the course do you think?

Siemens Mechatronics level 1. About 2 weeks into it, going well so far!

There is a PLC module that you can do on the HNC, even studying from home.

I'm about to enrol on a home-study HNC from Teesside University which doesn't even require visiting the uni at all, handy as I'm a good 150 miles away.

If you're interested, the mandatory HNC modules are analytical methods for engineers, electrical and electronic principles, engineering science, and project - then there are a whole heap of which you choose another 4, I'm going for electrical supply and distribution, electromagnetic compatibility, electronics, and PLCs.

If you've not got a HNC or above already, you should be eligible for student finance too, takes a few mins to register and apply.
