Discuss £30 for a periodic inspection (EICR) ??!!!! in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

You have to remember, these people just want the cert. Electrical safety is the last thing on there mind. They just need to be seen to be doing the right thing, leaving your head on the block.
How many times have you seen people take there cars in for an MOT because they want to know its safe ?? Nope just give me the bit of paper mate.

Exactly! The question is are we electricians or we are just scamers? I would rather do a proper job and feel proud of it then to go in there look around and say everything is ok.

How many times we had discussion here on these forums and some of us saying that they check everything that needs to be checked, photos and everything. That is a proper job, not four houses per day.

These would be old houses with people in them not new builds.

It is all about profit! For the big companies that is... We small people are screwed.

ive did domestic properties for approx 6 years and you can do approx 6 a day is the target i worked too but do you hve telephone number e mail address to apply for if ok, many thanks

sad isnt it £30 4 in a day not a hope in hell if you want it doing properly you will still have the paper work to fill in and with the new eicr just that can take over an hour plus traveling between each site so if you allow 8 hour day thats 2 hours per site

This sounds similar to another thread on here

PAT pricing for PIR's springs to mind with this one

Hope your PIR's are better than your spelling and grammer. There is no way on this planet that you can do 6 a day unless they are dolls houses

About 30 years ago I could just about do 3 a day with the travelling between properties with the requirements now it's down to 1 with a little bit of time left over on the day

The fact that some one will take this job on at £30 / EICR only continues to lessen the value of an electrician. May be it needs pointing out to these people that their name on the ticket means something and they will be held responsible in a court of law if death or serious injury results from their poor reporting of an installations condition

Did you do council houses in hampshire, Whitehill to be more specific?
Maybe thats why each time I go into one, I find a split ring and board labels not repositioned and the great guy council worker the put a kitchen ring didn't move the labels.

Well there is no doubting now the state of our trade so Jazzy can i ask do you write your comments on the PIR in text speak

Or maybe he's like the 'electrician' I met a while back who claimed he knew it all; not bad for a bloke who couldn't read!!

in actual fact, its £28. I was offered this, was told it was mainly 1 bedroom flats.
took a drive to the development before the start day and after chatting to some
of the tenants it turned out to be half a dozen flats and then all houses.
how they pay? they give you 2 hours to do the job, if it gets done in the time
its £14/hour less tax as its paid by an umbrella company. of course, you can take all day but you would be working for nothing!
very sad, The wanted a full EICR of course, and you HAVE to do any remedials
at the time, and needless to say a EIC.
unrealistic, the time you would spend driving to the jobs/filling in paperwork/organising consumables/paying for next day delivery as they want
paperwork back within 5 days, well needless to say I declined their generous
offer.

It can't be done can it, you know that as well as everyone else in this loop!! It's a scam...

They know full well that any documentation on these reports are going to be fictitious, all they need are the dim witted part trained electricians (if they can be called electricians) that are prepared to take a chance to fill in these forms and sign them!! Whoever is making the real money, sits back knowing they are untouchable, they haven't signed anything, they have these part trained idiots signatures to take the can...lol!!!

My first Inspect/Testing job was very similar.
Walked after the first day, total <insert suitable word of choice>.
I didn't give them the couple of test sheets I'd done.

They are doing what a lot of companies are up to in this curren environment trying to get something for nothing and get you to sign for it as well so where are the registration companies in all of this the funny thing is you can report a bad trademen to them and they could threaten to get him/her "Struck off" but these companies can get away with this and if something goes wrong they can get you "Struck off"
Looks like this is a job for Yarrick & Darrick who will set up the documents on a PC and tweak the figures to suit plus will not be here in 3 years time when some clown decides to audit their work
