Morning guys,

Just had a phone call of a company. Who do PIR in large
Industrial premise. Wanted to know how many I can do in a day.and he said he has one guy who can do 30 to 40!!! "can you do the same" I said not a chance he can't be doing any inspecting. He's answer was "well he starts at 6am and finishes at 10 pm. And when I said no thanks. He then said what about PAT testing. We have guys doing 350 per day can you match it. I said how much are you paying them he said 40p an item.
Is it me or is this a joke. Is someone trying to wind me up on a Friday :banghead::banghead:

I must up my rate of work, I am sure that the minimum inspection is 1.0% isn't it, I must have misread the rules!
Just walking between test points on a large building can take ten minutes on a single circuit let alone actually testing. I do despair, just makes it all so pointless, just a paperwork exercise no regard for safety at all.

haha gooner that made me crack up
i love to see this guy do 30 or 40 pirs in london pubs where every ****ed up tom dick and harry have a go and then jolly foreigner builds one of his finest 2x2 cuboards over a db with just a tiny 230V danger sticker hid in the corner
done one yesterday literally had every wiring code on the test sheet by the end!!
you turn off the bar ring and the whole place is pitch black !! love it

30 to 40 a day at ÂŁ100 each ÂŁ3000 to ÂŁ4000 a day get real
Must mean circuits at around ÂŁ5 per circuit ÂŁ 200 a day seems reasonable
PAT testing 350 a day does that include formal visual inspection I expect not
at 2minutes per item that's 700 minutes or 11.5 hours none stop that must be taking the P***. for 350 x 40p ÂŁ140 a day tell em shove it where the sun don't shine

I read one on here were one of the forum members was working in a school and another firm was doing the Pat Testing well sticking sticker

some going 30 40 pirs got to be having a laugh would take longer to do the paperwork unless he mass produces 1 cert for any job lol

Well theres all types of crap goin off on site isn`t there.......i mean i remember the guy from merseyside who posted on here a while ago...he was with a company who had "won" (bought more like) a contract to upgrade some housing stock for liverpool city council......there they were running cables on the diagonal......plastering joint boxes into walls n all that (you get the picture)....no one seemed to be in charge until this 17 year old kid appeared complete with steinels board and pen etc just coppying down values of old test certs.......the best bit was he was supposed to be the duty holder n all.......lol.....:38:

I mean to do a PIR right....you will be looking at everything and going in depth on a minimum of 10%....accompanied with tests....you should be looking at about 3-4 hours minimum for a 3 bed house....to do it right....so where they got this b0ll0cks from i dont know......someone in an office maybe charged with a recruiting drive.....all sounds like agency nonsense to me..........

The hotels we do generaly have same setup in every room so Amtecs cert software has a "Copy board" nice n easy lemon squeezt it copies circuit details not readings BTW and for 4.5 an hour it makes it easy if its db per room the easiest is reception and plant room tho DBs there or very near radials to 20,30 points and normaly well marked up I Havent come across a badly marked up DB yet that would make it difficult to do targets
