Do i need to hold my formal qualifications for 4 years before i can become NAPIT approved ?

Ive passed the 2391 quite recently, i was originally planning on going with elecsa but didn think they covered any thing other than domestic, ...

i have good promises on landing loads of work with 'travel lodge' .....so need something that will cover that.

That would count as commercial then wouldn`t it? If so then ELECSA should cover it.........

I will be joining you soon (elecsa) mate.......looked at all the providers and as i only want them for notifyable stuff they seem the best value to me as they will throw in pir`s n all for the price ÂŁ370 (i think). What are you going to use as evidence of competency (if you dont mind me asking) as they will want to see an example of your craft? A dis board change will suffice or 2 part installs or a full rewire. You dont have to notify buildings control either (robbers) as you just notify through your part p provider when/if you are accepted onto their scheme.....save you some cash mate..........

Ive just moved and installed a new consumer unit at my sisters , so will be using that as one. Just doing all the remedial work etc atm.....

Then got a shower to install , hopefully soon. so will use that too.

Ive passed my level 2 C+G , 17th edition regs , and 2391 , NVQ LEVEL 2.

U were saying that they would throw in the PIR for ÂŁ370 ?? howd ya wangle tha ?/

New c/u covers it mate as you have to fill in all the relevent certs for it (install cert, schedule of tests, schedule of inspections) Dont forget that they will want to see that you have a copy of the on site guide and bs7671 (17th). Guidance note three wouldn`t hurt either and part p of the building regs (you can download this) also, remember to get a lockout kit as they are keen to see you can work safely and you will need a voltage indicator (martindale) or a steinel type instrument together with a known source of supply (proving unit). Your mft/seperates will need a current callibration cert too.........

Yeah ive got all the books ( needed them for college ) . Got the calibration done. Will a multimeter suffice as a voltage indicator ?

What qeustions will they ask ? ...as ive recently passed the 2391 i think i may be overdoing the inspection for the part p, / overthinking it all. lol

As your 2391 compliant i would suspect that they wont be too far reaching with the questions (as you have way and above the minimum requirement for them anyway). Get yourself a voltage/continuity tester (good for "belling out" as well as proving you have achieved safe isolation). Mines a di-log and i have found it a good bit of kit. There about ÂŁ35 so not overly dear and comply with GS38 too so no questions asked there.........

If its PIRs then Napit permit it for no extra fee,if you hold indemnity insurance and the 2391
The Niceic woulkd need to be approved contractor,if you became a domestic installer the pir fee is additional
Elecsa also have seperate registration for pirs ( I believe)and additional cost for pir registration

The Niceic approved list will encompass more than all the rest

rick . Cant thank you enough for taking the time to explain that to me. well apprieciated. same to everyone else.

However . ( and please forgive me for beeing so dull but i really aint good at this sort of stuff ) . What would i need to be able to sign off commercial places ? ...would the elecsa approved contractor be ok ? and legal ?

As i think i may have siad in an earlier post, i have big promises of landing a lot of work with the travel lodge firm. And need to make sure i can do the work and sign it off with no issues.

Again ,...many thanks all for your responses.
