5.7kw Hob

Quick question... Electric hob is 5.7kW so could I use 2.5mm heat resistant flex? B+Q has Tower 2.5mm Heat Resistant flex and says that is max rating is 240v, 6000Wats and 25 Amps.... so i think this would be ok?

Just wondering as 4mm is mentioned as the standard however 4mm would be a little difficult to run/connect?? Guess im just looking for a second opinion.

just done 5700w divided by 230v = 24.78A
bit too close to 25A max stated rating of cable, therefore id use 4mm

You could do it with the 2.5 but if it was me i'd go for the 4mm.

hes referring to connecting from ccu to hob, not running a cooker circuit in 2.5

If the hobs max power rating is 5.7kw and it's a four ring hob, I'd use 2.5mm. (Heat resistant flex).

Havent got the instructions, its an Ignis 4 ring hob, took the power details of the bottom of the hob (sticker) which says maximum demand is 5.7kw...

4mm for heavens sake ! 2.5 is to close to the limit and with a hob you need to keep the voltage at the appliance, otherwise with all rings going you will be wondering why its taking so long to boil a saucepan of water. (If you get my drift) 2.5 will work, but 4mm will give better performance, .

what you on about with diversity the hob will never pull 5.7kW so never get anywhere near the 24 amp full load
