Oi you!!!!!!
It feels like the Chinese are back on the forum again.OMG! I am SO old...
my first car was a Vauxhall Victor, pre-1960 model, mushroom grey with red leather upholstery...my mate had one too, but his had a 3 speed column change whereas mine had 4 on the floor.
I remember my Dad regularly buying £1 worth of 4-star, that was 6 gallons (GALLONS!)...3/4d a gallon...
lesson no.1.....It feels like the Chinese are back on the forum again.
Because I understand none of that.
As a child I vaguely remember the difference between leaded and unleaded.
But 4 star must be something else.
Shillings and d mean nothing to me.
And you could get 4 jam doughnuts and the Daily Sketch for a shillinglesson no.1.....
4 star was leaded. it stopped pre-ignition
no.2....... there were 12 pence in a shilling; 20 shillings to the £. that meant 240 pence to a £., not like this stupid decimal shyte. 10 pence were 2 shillings or a florin. 2.5 shillings was half a crown. coins were made of nickel silver or copper. not mild steel with a few microns of colour on the surface. and a week's pocket money was a tanner (look it up).
Fill yer car up with Motion Lotion for 30Boband school dinner money was 1/- a day. friday was fish as we had 1 catholic in a class of 36, so me and my mate spent friday,s dinner money on 10 park drive each ( with a penny and a haflenny change)
