A couple of testing questions

not sure what you mean Trev..which test will it get rid of?

My understanding of the procedure would be to take a Ze reading at cu2 and test circuits as normal, just the same as cu1. But record a separate set of test results just for the armoured link itself, is this correct?

Your Ze is at the origin it will be Zdb at CU 2.

You will still need list this sub main as a circuit on your STR along with all the boxes completed.

Does it have to be fused?? The way I have done it is...

meter tails to henley box
henley box to cu1 in tails
henley box to cu 2 in 16mm swa

Also, how the hell have you glanded the SWA into the Henley, remembering that its armouring requires earthing :blush5:

I put the henley inside an adaptable box and glanded into the adaptable box.. then I connected the armouring to the MET along with the earth.

Which bit is 'wrong just sooo wrong' you have me worried now. how should I have done this?

I have been working in a commercial environment for a number of years but just getting myself set up in domestic land, that's what I'm on this forum for, to help get the right advice when necessary.

Why fart about doing what you've done.

SWA needs fusing so gland off into a metalclad switch fuse and feed it with suitably sized tails, job done.

If the SWA sub isn't glanded off properly then its not safe and you can't properly complete your cert.

Just what do you actually log into this forum for?

Your aggressive replies are based on you making your mind up about what has been done as opposed to what has actually been done, I suggest reading the questions that people post on here carefully and if you can't give any constructive answers then don't bother posting at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Isn't this forum for electricians who need help with particular day to day problems? If it isn't then it's only purpose is to entertain people who feel superior to others by criticising them and their questions.

One day I may even have a similar electrical knowledge to yourself, but I sure as hell won't be spending half my life logging on to here criticising people to make myself feel better

Not once have I been aggressive, just trying to get to the point rather than going round the houses.

As far as i'm aware, all my posts have pointed you in the right direction.

Compared to most on here my electrical knowledge is probably quite limited and if I spent half my life on here then I wouldn't be able to make a living would I:sad_smile:

If you can't be bothered to terminate and earth your selected cables properly or find testing a simple sub main like to much graft, that's fine, I hold any future comments and replies back.

I have run a cable from the henley box up to the 2nd c/unit on the 2nd floor

direct from the service fuse ?
should be fused down and switched if more than 3mtrs from meter , which it clearly is.
