3 single phase heating elements are fed from a 3 phase 4 wire 400 volt supply. Assume each element is 2KW at 230 V. The switch is in the neutral (once upon a time it was allowed)
Calculate the heat output
A with the switch open.
B with the switch closed
I have the answers but as I said above, I've not worked through it myself yet

I know but was going to let it run as your little baby in here first ..didn't want to steel any thunder plus didn't want the Trainee's seeing the answer in the main forum which is the main reason to do it later ;)

could somebody explain to me how to work it out please?

With trev's agreement I'll ask Marvo to undelete his post which is a wiring layout to better explain what is happening, now that the answer is out there I don't think there is any issue to explaining indepth the reasoning behind the answer.
