I bought this book over a year and half ago to do 2382/2392. Back then I noticed a few small things that were not right. Especially when cross referencing them with the GN3 etc. Afer doing some of the exercises in the back of the Chris Kitcher book on Inspection and testing second edition it appears that some of the basic principles for calculating R1 + R2 are not correct. In particular it is the books lack of ability to divise the r1 + r2/4 to get an approximation of R1 + R2 calculated from the m/ohm/m value and the length of the circuit given to you in the exercise. All of the answers lack the division. It's either me or I'm going banana's. But I feel let down by this book that I've paid hard earned money for lol something that if I didn't have any other book I would be calculating the incorrect answers...does anyone agree with me, has anyone seen this as well.

Only just today bought the BYB, OSG and GN3. The IET have now turned off the mcb for the IR test lol.

edit:- I have just checked Kitch1 registration details and it is Chris Kitcher. Seen as he is one of the top electrical authors in the UK, please be professional when asking him questions about his publications.

ps Thanks Chris for getting me through Level 3 + I&T. You build a good bridge between Regs and the real world.

Paul you will have to try and get kitch in the trainee section. Them books must have cost a pretty penny.

I'm already in talks with him. See if he replies?

Books cost £105 for all 3 at the IET stand mate. GN3 is a bit better than yours...... it dose not say divide by 4 on a radial R1+R2 pmsl. That will teach you, buying snide books from the internet lol.

Tell you what Northstar, seen as I've got a brand new copy of the GN3 and you need it more than me because of your up coming 2394/5 exams. PM me your address and I'll post it to you in the morning mate. Lets have the correct books for the job

Be careful with he new OSG and GN 3 as the Zs values for Type C circuit breakers are incorrect up to 32A. Nice to see I'm not the only one to make mistakes Ha! Ha!

That is a massive mistake! C type 100A @ 1.17!!!! 0.17 lol

GN3 page 121, table A4 btw gents. All but two C & 3 types are all wrong.

Chris, nice to have you on board. Hopefully you will stick around?

Mistakes in text books are there to keep you on your toes! :)

Re: IET books, to everyone who's got duff copies, keep your receipts and maybe photograph the offending pages.
Then email (keep your emails!) the IET demanding free corrected copies on reprint.
It's not very good for a British Standards publications.

Thanks for the very generous offer Paul. I have borrowed one from the library for now. looks like I will have to wait for one that has no mistakes in it.
