domestic spark

hello, got a job needs a supply outside to a log cabin for a hot tub, two socket outlets and one light.

what i was thinking of doing was running 10mm 3 core armoured.

i was goin to install a ccu next to original with a 30ma rdc. split the tails, henley block.

run the armoured 600mm underground 15m max, and once in the log cabin gland off and put another 3 way consumer unit again with 30mA protection.

then in t&e 1.5 wire a swich and light

in 2.5 t&e put two sockets in.

and off the same board wire in the hot tub.

will 10mm 3 core armoured over 15m be ok?

cheers guys!

havent done much armoured. if you know a better way, step by step it thankyou!

advise much appreciated!!

XPLE armoured 10mm will carry 81A so it's well in for your needs. calculate your total load and work out volt drop, sure it will be well within limits at 15m run. suggest using ducting. for the extra cost of some plastic, it's worth it. and don't forget the buried cable warning tape.

Couple of points why have an RCD at both the supply and load ends of the sub main? What about main bonding for any extraneous conductive parts in regards to the supply system?

i dont understand break it down sorry!

what sintra means is 1. you only want to fit an RCD at either the house end or the cabin end, not both.
2. all extraneous conductive parts in the cabin will need to be bonded ( earthed)
3. you need to decide if you are using the main house earthing system, or making the cabin TT ( earth rod)

and yes any pipe work etc i will bond also

It's not as easy as saying you will bond it. Any extraneous conductive part in the outbuilding has to be bonded back to the met and in some instances it is easier to make the outbuilding a TT.

You need to tell us the type of system to let us advice you further as the advice for a TT will be different than a TN.

i think what you need to do is enlist the aid of a local electrician as the job needs notifying to building control. hopefully you can install a lot of the job yourself and get him to complete the more "technical" side and testing.

15 meters is no distance at all, So use 3 core SWA and use the 3rd core as your bonding cable if your supply system is PME (TNC-S) The earthing terminal in your new CU will then become an EMT. There is no need to TT this wooden building...
