domestic spark

hello, got a job needs a supply outside to a log cabin for a hot tub, two socket outlets and one light.

what i was thinking of doing was running 10mm 3 core armoured.

i was goin to install a ccu next to original with a 30ma rdc. split the tails, henley block.

run the armoured 600mm underground 15m max, and once in the log cabin gland off and put another 3 way consumer unit again with 30mA protection.

then in t&e 1.5 wire a swich and light

in 2.5 t&e put two sockets in.

and off the same board wire in the hot tub.

will 10mm 3 core armoured over 15m be ok?

cheers guys!

havent done much armoured. if you know a better way, step by step it thankyou!

advise much appreciated!!

Ive kind of got the idea that....if you are going to bond pipework in an out-building then a TT system is required and not to import an earth from the main building?

Perhaps id better retreat back to the "silly question" thread ?

This is not the case at all although many do believe this.

And why so many buildings get a TT system that doesn't need one... Your not exporting PME your EXTENDING it by bonding the required services within the outbuilding and taking that bonding back to the MET at the origin....

There you go then, ....Now you know what you have to do to comply with your PME supply!!!

One more thing, as this is a hot tub room, it will come under the special location banner, so check your oulet distances, etc.

Thankyou engineer59 I just like confirming things with people, so thankyou! Is it best to have my rcd at log cabin or, by original fuseboard?

Install the RCD at the log cabin, unless your client wants to go running back into the house when the RCD trips.
Personally, i would install RCBOs for each of the cabins circuits rather than a cover all device!!

Most of the Hot tubs I've come across over here, come with an isolation switch incorporated within the supplied unit. If not, then yes, you must provide one, preferably a locking one...

If there are no services in the cabin (the tub can be filled from an outside tap with a hose), then you won't need 10mm.

As a hot tub counts as a swimming pool all your sockets need to be >2m away from the tub.

Frankly, for your own safety, I'd suggest engaging the services of a registered electrician.

Rcbos I mite do that then, makes sense! From the fuseboard by the original board I'n the house, shall I just put the armoured on a 40a type b bs 60898 breaker

Surely the size of the SWA cable is dependent on the total load it will be supplying, nothing to do with hoses and taps.

if your load is under 40A, you won't need 10mm SWA 6mm XLPE will suffice. 10mm XLPE can be supplied by a 63A MCB.
