Discuss age of the sparkies that post on here? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

56 here, started in 1973 completed my apprenticeship, got my JIB approved ticket. I loved the work but could see I would not get a pension at the end of it so I took a different career path for 30 years ( I did keep up sparking as well) I am just starting up my own company and registered with Elecsa. I have renewed my JIB approved ticket just in case things dont work out as I would like

Regards

Ben

Thats why there is so much squabbling here, 3 or 4 dozen 35-45 year old working class very proud tradesmen throwing their toys out of the pram haha, the original question should have been what age group causes the most trouble here and 35-45 seems to be the answer hehe.

well, i'll boost the average a bit then. only engineer54 is close to my age. started after college in 1970. first industrial, then TV repairs, domestic electrics, alarms. some for employers, some self employed. did 16th Ed. 1993, 17th 2011, still learning at 65.

33, started apprenticeship at 18, that lasted 4 years, then did HND in electrical engineering part time at college whilst I was working in a factory as an assistant maintenance spark. Horrible days......moved on to domestic and light commercial and much prefer that! Also currently work as a Traffic Warden part time so I can pay the mortgage (sorry.....please don't hate me!)....... :)

"PLEASE DON'T HATE ME!"...??????????? the only way that's going to happen is if you let us know where your beat is, and let us park with impunity.

by the way, i'm 40 and have been at it since 2006. still a novice.

Will be 50 in Jan... started apprentiseship at 16, in industrial, left industry for a while then came back 12 years ago firstly part time then just over 2 years ago full time.
Love the job, keeps me fit (ish) and am my own boss which was always the dream, just took me a while... :)

just did ther math and i am 37 (stopped counting some time ago) started playing with wires 17 years ago, had to do the maths twice as i cant believe it, no wonder i get a bit cranky sometimes, and with regards to learning, the day i stop learning is the day i stop living

traffic wardens - i have nothing but love for them - keep loving them and maybe they might walk past one day .... maybe
