argh I dont want to do that if possible as it's so late and the neighbours will hate me!

Is there any chance you think it will stay off tonight with it still being on tamper mode?

Really annoying it should go now, as not 2 weeks ago I had a lovely chap from here round to look at my electrics - teletrix. I could have asked him to disconnect it then :(

Somethimes we make it too easy...one for the record and hope i dont bore you.
When we designed the optima we fitted NVM chip as you know to store settings....but being new tech then, we forgot to add a watch dog circuit, which basically keeps timing and reloading the info. so sometimes the optima can lock, it will still srore the settings but can reload them, luckly they didnt lock up to much in the field....arh well you live a learn

Tazz you say when we designed the optima ? are you talking in general or were you involved in the design ? and yep the NVM meant the panel would hold the codes and other settings if powered down where to old membrane optima was wiped clean and reverted to FSC

oh there you are telectrix :) Thanks for the advice.

I just hope it lasts tonight so I can run the bell battery down.

2 things

1) when you say "power off" or "isolate power supply" will taking the fuse out above the panel accomplish this?
2) when you say oldtimer "disconnect the battery outside" do you mean get up to the bell box and open it and disconnect the battery inside that?! If so wow. I've not even got ladders.

Yep you have to make sure the mains supply can be isolated look for a fused outlet next to the panel if it goes direct into the consumer unit it may be sharing a fuse or circuit breaker or worse still it been connected directly across the incoming mains (been their a few times)

For my sins oldtimer yes worked in Liverpool factory for A1 and ADE in early days....all owned by Honeywell now
ADE was just a little shop in Aintree 1982

even if it's not got the cut-off timer, it will go into dying duck sound after about 30 minutes.
