Is there an alternative to fast fix boxes? I've just fit a screw less flat plate socket to one and can see the fast fix box!
metal ko box on a noggin isn't an option as it's an existing drywall!

You mean there's a bit of the box's flange showing beyond the edges of the plate socket?

Is it too difficult to take something like an 8" second cut file to the box and file the required amount off the flange??

I always run a bead of silicone sealant round, and sprinkle sequins over before it dries...but that's just a by-product of having Gok Won as a lover...

TBH I have some in the van as back-up but have not needed to use one yet.

They look like it will be a bit fiddly as the metal back box will be left floating until it is tightened up, but I reckon they will work fine by the look of them.

I used them.

Bloody ballache they were.

Just before you get the screws tightened, the damned things fall off down the cavity.:32:

Those metal flanges were brought out in the seventies when, at the time a new type of internal wall was being built.
These walls were called paramount partitions, we called them egg box walls because of their construction. They were two plasterboards with a honeycomb type set up separating them I think made the total wall thickness about 50mm. because of this ready made construction there were no noggins to fix the boxes. I think that also would have been the birth of the dry lining box.
