Got my AM2 Monday, just wondered if anyone could give me any advice if they have taken it before or things to be wary of.

Could someone please explain to me using fly earth leads, when to use and when to jot? Might seem simple but my college have basically put me for the AM2 with barely any help from them

Do you have to use fly leads connected to a banjo when using SWA and SY cable. Also when doing the PFC tests do you test each phase to earth and double the highest reading and record that as you ipf and just record the PSCC (phase to neutral??) on the back of the test sheet

If the sheath or screen is being used as protective conductor then yes, you need to banjo and fly lead to the earth terminals.

Be careful with your terminology. Measure PEFC (L-E) and PSSC (L-N), the highest of the two values becomes the PFC. Record this value if only Single Phase is present. Double it and then record value if Three Phase is present.

Another question, on my test results I have 2 circuits that are 3 phase do I put e.g motor circuit L1 then all the results for that phase then underneath motor circuit L2 then all the results etc or do I put motor circuit and take the highest reading off all of the results I get for each phases and use that?

Hello Anthony,

Just interested in how you got on in the AM2 test?

Phase to phase is the worst case on a 3 phase supply this should be measured then doubled and recorded
