have to ask,
I would like to clarify a point on the new regs about cable supports.
in future are we being told that we can only use metal cable clips and metal trunking and conduit, or have i read it incorrectly.
I re wire many domestic garages where i would use the correct conduit gland and fittings, and also use trunking in the house on the customers request, where a spur socket needs to be moved.
I don't even see the point in the metal consumer unit since most issues are due to bad installations.

I dont see any reason for not continuing to use plastic conduit and trunking as long as metal fixings are fitted at optimum points that will still support cabling in the event of a meltdown.

Yep as Lee points out. It is metal supports to stop cables dropping in the event of a fire. And it is in escape routes. So plastic trunking and conduit still ok as long as cables cannot droop down after the plastic has melted. Conduit would need metal saddles, and you can get fire clips that fit in MT2 nicely. Thanks Tazz for the info and the fire clips.
