I'm amazed that tape measures and levels haven't been mentioned thus far. Don't know if it's true, but I heard once that tape measures were the most common tool that electricians lost/ misplaced. I would have thought that snips and terminals would have went missing the most considering how often they are used.

when i do electrical fault finding on boilers my martindale and multi meter are the first things i use but i suppose decent electrical drivers and a good cutters would be essential for a sparks as well

You forgot the tippex and the neon tester

Neon tester, sure my tongue is as good! All dead tests at the mo, supply cables haven't been pulled into any db at the hospital I'm testing, and the tipex has been lost, ahh well someone at the office using amtech will have to decipher my scribblings!

selection of spanners,
stocks and dies,
eagle beaks,
bush spanner,
box spanners,
Hacksaw and its little brother,
bootlace crimpers
tin snips,
pump pliers,
claw hammer,
riveter,
socket set,
string line,
boat level,
sidecutters
screwdrivers
etc..etc..

oh.. and like ponty says 20 smokes, its the only thing that if I forget I will have turn around immediately and drive to the shop :p

Problem is the list is endless so depending on what im doing, I usually only take what I need onto site and leave the rest in the stores/van tio avoid future back problems!
