Any advice would be great

Afternoon fellas.

Not sure if I'm trying to dive before I can swim.

I'm starting college & I'm constantly on this forum & pretty sure I've trolled hrs & hrs of people's posts & ive also got my Kircher books & Trevor Lindsey books it still looks foreign.

Also from now on I've decided to only post on the trainee section where I belong & not jump in on other posts I've no clue what I'm talking about.

Anyway I'm still struggling to take the info in &'what I learned last night I seemed to have forgot a lot of it today.

What I have noticed on this forum is the amount of decent blokes who certainty know what they're talking about & I know your expertise will help no end.

So my question really has anyone got any advice on revising so to speak, I seem to be jumping from one subject to another & then another but it seems there is so much to learn would be nice to get a little head start any particular part.

You need to focus on what the next exam module you will be sitting will be. Your trainer should be shoe horning you into what you need to be looking at presuming you are on a structured course. Of course at all stages of your course one of the main tenets it is all based on is ohms law. Get your head around that and the power triangle especially. It crops up in all sorts of exams and situations. Don't randomly go all over the place. Ask your tutor what you need to focus on currently.
I think from what I have seen the basic science is the most difficult part for people and it is mastering that. Such as resistivity, flow of electrons, phasor diagrams, hypotenuese tan sine cos for the calculation of PF. Anyway thats my tuppence worth.

Are you doing an approved apprenticeship? Are you in your 1st year?
Speak with your course instructor and ask questions don’t ever be shy about putting your hand up and getting them to explain themselves again if you missed heard or understood them.
You should be getting set questions to do at home from each subject which will re-inforce what you did in the class room.

I'm an adult leaner &'Its a 3 1/2 yr course with college level 2 & 3.

I was very close to going on one of these DI courses but I'm glad I didn't as college seems the best route to achieve the knowledge.

You are doing the right thing and stick with it. There are a hell of a lot of years experience contained on this forums and by its members. As you have probably come to understand from reading replies there are different approaches and methods or idiology between posters but that is what makes this job so interesting. Usually it’s all good banter but we are always willing to help the ones who ask for it and want to learn as we are always learning ourselves.

Consolidate the bits you are sure of, no matter how many times you go over things.
Start from scratch on things you think you know very little about, read read and read some more.
I use to be crap at Phaser diagrams when I was at college, realised it was something I needed to get down solid so I did my homework, or coursework depending on how you look at it, and then did the next excercise, if I got it wrong then the next class or lecture at least I knew what the Lecturer was on about, don't be afraid to ask questions, so in a nutshell read and inwardly digest.

hope yet. you could start on banks's bitter (3.8%) and work theakstons (5.0%), but beware of fake imitation beer called reamflow or smoothflow.it will rot your guts and addle your brain. apart from tasting like shyte.

Hi massive 1
It sounds to me by reading your post that you may not be taking enough notes if you are forgetting what you learnt the previous day.
My advice would be to write as much as you can down on paper, copy all the tutors work he puts on the board and ask the tutor for all the handouts relevant to what you are being taught that day. These qualifications will require a lot of home studying and research on your part but you cant study something if you dont have the notes to help you. Speaking from experience I struggled on the electrical theory as i had been out of school for over 30 years but i spent hours studying the formulas i was being taught at college after work and college on the internet and it pays off believe me.
One thing i found really helped me when writing the formulas out was to use one of the multi colour pens the ones that have several colours built into one pen so when you use volts amps resistance power e.t.c in the formulas each one has its own colour and you wont get confused.
Use the internet it has everything you need just by searching google to help you. Your tutor will be approachable if you are struggling on certain modules talk to him and he should help you by giving you more handouts to help you in home study. You will only get out what you put in worked for me and i hope it helps you to.
Keep at it, it will all make sense in the end and it will reward you in the long run believe me.
