£600 is a rip off. Did it at night school cost £260 in total (city of wolverhampton college). Can't see how anywhere gets away with prices like that. I know of one place thats 5 day intensive for £350 and he was prepared to barter. Cancel the rip off!

sTOW DO THE 2391 AND FROM WHAT i GATHER ELECTRICAL KNOWLAGE IS A PRE REQUISATE FOR BEING ACCEPTED ON THE COURSE PERSONALY i WOULDNT FANCY DOING IT WITH NO KNOWLAGE
FOR PIRS EVEN WITH 2391 A LOT OF THE TEST,INSPECTION ISNT IN ANY BOOK YOU CAN BUY ITS KNOWLAGE GAINED THROUGH WORKING IN THE TRADE THERE ARE GUYS WHO HAVE DONE ALL THE 6WEEK WONDER COURSES( I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND OR BELITTLE GUYS WHO HAVE SPENT CASH BETTERING THEMSELFS) BUT THE COURSES ARE SOLD ON FALSE PROMISE IMO THE BEST WAY IS DO 17TH GET EXPERIANCE THEN A WHILE LATER DO 2391 AS YOU WILL HAVE SEEN STUFF NOT IN THE BOOKS ECT
GOOD LUCK M8

hi RWJ
When i asked about the course to start with they said that they normally wouldnt have someone on the course with no sparky background but as i signed up for the 17th and just passed it they have allowed me to continue onto the cg2391.

worried but its a challenge .. :)

Gn3 about £19 off amazon. I know a lad who had no prior experience in electrical work apart from a little house bashing. He went in for it and passed the theory but failed the practical, then passed the practical second time round. If you get your head down you'll be ok!!

HI Mogga
I have no way of getting the experience so its a catch 22 situation .I fully understand what i am letting myself in for maybe a nice local spark might take pity on me and offer me a wee hand with some onsite insight in exchange for a t-boy :)

thanks 72 van

College I did it at wanted the guys enrolling on it to have 2330 2 & 3 and 17th edition if not they were asked to do the 2392 instead. Cant remember how much I paid but pretty sure it was no where near £600

72-van :)

It's a hard course even if you're a time served sparky. Don't be fooled there's no easy tricks to pass. Thats why 7 out of 10 fail at the moment (and they all probably tried quite hard!).

The practical is the b!*ch in my opinion. Youre on a timer, watched like a hawk, and hoofed out at the hint of doing something wrong.

Not easy.

Hi Vince thanks for the offer of offline advice but the site tells me you need to clear out your inbox as its full before anyone can send stuff to you ..

HI Spartykus
Sounds very like i Will need as much helpful advice and support as i can get then :)

As for tricks to passing i think the trick might be pay attention to what your elders n betters tell you ,dad taught me that one when i was a bairn and it holds true to most things.

My intention is take as much sound advice from the experts as i can ,the lecturing staff at the college have been very good with me and hopefully will continue to support someone whos aim is to do the job right.

The coding part is all down to experience and knowing whether something is right or wrong. Remember some pics have no faults.
