Quite standard old MEM fuses... Has someone just mounted them on a wooden case???

No they haven't been mounted by someone that is how they where manufactuered in 50's

saw something similar to this today. Customer could tell by my reaction that i'd never seen anything like this. Before i could even get my tester out to test terminals she asked me to leave!!

I ripped one out a couple of months ago. Dove tail joints, glass front, must have been the original from 1948 when the house was built. I should have taken a pic.

I know they are not electrically sound in this day and age, however, they were the best that was avaliable at the time they were installed.


I love looking at them.

Dovetail joints, brass hinges, ceramic fuse holders.

VIR or rubber cables.

There were a few different trades required to manufacture that item.... It interests me.

I wouldn't throw any of that stuff in the skip nowerdays because I would admire the craftmanship of its manufacture.

Thats the biggest shame.......I used to throw them in the skip.

I don't have a collection of that sort of historic electrical equiptment.



Someone, somewhere, will be interested in that sort of thing, an electrical museum?

Such a shame to see it all go to 'land-fill'.
