No?

Neither have i..... but someone i work with (i use the term loosly) has!

The MCB had already been switched off, but for some unknown reason he switched it back on and then somehow managed to get a lock off on it but locked it on instead. But it doesnt stop there....

The reason it was being locked off in the first place was because it fed a big beast of a 110v tranny that was being taken out, it was a 63a supply. So without testing and checking for dead, he started cutting through the SWA cable.......BANG!!!!!!

Luckily for him and the guy helping holding the cable (who aint a sparky anyway) they were both ok, guy cutting got a shock but nothing more. The poor inocent hack saw blade took the brunt of it!

Shocking, literally!!!

I would have to call the compotentcy of this person in to question:(

sounds like the kids in a rough estate near here, they went up on the flat roof of the school last year with a hacksaw , started cutting armourd cable trying to nick the copper, CCTV footage showed a massive flash the kid fell off the roof and they found the hacksaw in peices and black

the kid tried to deny it at school, but with the burn marks on his face and hands, he was caught red handed

literaly

obviously he forgot he had eyes and a brain.
I guess he was on a flow of some sort, previously tested for dead and trusted the switch was for that circuit etc.

I think lots of sparks cut corners but...
This is a clear example why you should test for dead every time no matter how much of an annoyance that can seem at the time.

lucky he didn't have a piece of blade in his eye too.

if you buy a voltage indicator that tells you instantly if there is voltage there, ok its only an indicator and you shouldnt rely on it but its an indication non the less, takes 2 seconds to hold it againsed cable. I do it EVERY time I work on anything even if I KNOW ive just killed it at board - this is why ive NEVER been belted or had a shock - call me lucky or sensible

iv got on for you i was told this one....

some had told the other person disconnect a cooker it had be isolated and tested and all was dead well thats what he though turned out that he dint test the n and the elec company had the l and n the wrong way round so he got abit of a shock

I'd like to think if someone else was asked to cut it after he "isolated" it then they would double check to confirm dead before they cut through it, like he should have. But who knows!

unfortunately not always the case especially with trainees apprentices etc who trust there 'supervisors'

this from another forum a while ago while ago

QUOTE--Had a call from my mate today. His boy is the sparks injured at the college refurb in Kent.
40% flash burns to chest arms hands & face, not to sure what they were doing but the two lads were told by two other superiors that all cables they were to work on had been tested & were isolated........Unfortunately it wasnt.
He's in a very bad way tanken by air ambulance straight to hospital ICU.

Needless to say guy's & girls, remember to stay safe CHECK ISOLATION YOURSELF do NOT rely on the word of others
