Anyone rate this drill?

looking around for a new drill as mines bust....

anyone brought anything from these before looking at possibly getting the dewalt?

If you read the reviews they're generally positive, but the last 2 times I've used them they haven't been great - the first time I had to collect my drill from the delivery office; they close early (18:00) so I had to leave work early and get the train over the other side of the county because there were sewerage works blocking the most direct road in.

The last time I used them I paid by Paypal because I thought it would be easier, but Paypal automatically added my old address and they would not change it "for security reasons".
So "for security reasons" they had to deliver my socket set to my old address. There was nobody in and they left a card, then someone took the card to the delivery office and forged my signature to get a free socket set. Toolstop's attitude was that they had delivered it where it was supposed to go so tough luck. Paypal took the same line - it had been delivered so tough luck. I pointed out it hadn't actually been delivered anywhere and they gave me my money back.
Later on I found the same set on Amazon for roughly the same price.

Dewalt battery drills are not as good as they used to be, not a brand that i'd go for as a first choice anymore....

I've got the baby brothers the 10.8V they work for me. Lightweight, tough and reliable.

It's like Apple I-phones - people by it 'cos they know no better & have more money than sense.

I like Makita

I'm not a fan of DeWalt either - I prefer Bosch professional.

You'd do well to do what it looks like Geordie has done and what I intend to do - pick a brand and buy gear made by that brand, that way you don't need a massive array of different batteries and chargers, unless they decide to do what Apple did and change their charging connector. I believe Makita did that recently as well. Annoying.

I worked for a company that specialised in the Diamond Drilling and cutting of reinforced concrete. I designed & built the machines to do it and learned a bit about what makes a good, reliable drill. When you're drilling 3 foot diameter holes all over Heathrow Airport's runways you want something reliable!

I've tried the industrial Black & Deckers, the Dewalts et al and happen to like Makita in the same way as I like my Toyota MR2 and others like Mazda MX5s - it's whatever floats your boat, gets you away from the lights - or drills your hole.

I must admit I'm a bit of a Dewalt fanboy.

But my kit is a bit older and well looked after.

If I had to buy new kit I'd probably either stick with Dewalt or go for Makita.

That makita kit looks like a good option and a better price than the dewalt

All my gears makita and it's never missed a beat although my bhp458 drills starting to show its age but it is 5 years old now and has had a hard life

I'm also somewhat of a DeWalt fanboy, I have several 18V cordless (the older style LiIon, not the latest XR type), as well as the odd corded hammer drill. One thing does annoy me though, the change of battery style a year or two back.

I have a couple of 18V combi drills, Jigsaw, recip saw, circular saw and a few work lights all on the older battery style.

They have never let me down.
